    Apple Macbook Pro Question

So Im in the process of buying a new laptop and will make the switch to Apple. My question arises on the model I should get. One laptop is almost $1,000 CDN more expensive than the other, but I am unsure as to whether it is worth that extra money.

What I plan to do with the apple is:
    -school work
    -internet
    -music
-garageband (and make my own music)
    -movies
    -some good video games

The two models are the the first and middle computers (starting from the left)

    Re: Apple Macbook Pro Question

This is offtopic but why are the apple laptops so expensive? I was looking into them when I was shopping for laptops but they cost almost $1,000 more than what I got yet they have almost the exact same parts and in some cases better stuff than the apple.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Have you ever actually spent time with one? It's like driving a Mercedes and a Ford--both have motors, mufflers, etc, but they are very different

I think the reason that one is more expensive is because you get a faster processor, bigger Hard Drive, and a little better video card. The big reason is because the screen size is bigger.

I dont want the one on the right--Im looking at the two 15inchers....

My question is though, are those upgrades worth $1,000?

I wasnt thinking so. See, my bro an I are each getting one. I think I only need the one on the left and he wants the middle one. My dad, though, was asking me to find out if its even worth it.

Do you know how to translate Apple specs to windows? I dont quite understand what Im getting with each

Yeah my mom pretty much owns every apple product invented, I've spent plenty of time with their stuff.

The regular macbooks are pretty nice too. The smaller screen makes them more portable and they are a lot cheaper. I am sure if you are really into gaming and garage band you might need the pro though. I just wanted to make sure you were aware of the options. I got a macbook last christmas and love it.

Also just so everyone knows, those are canadian prices. I think the consumer line of Macs and Macbooks are very reasonably priced for what you get.

I love my MacBook Pro for work...It's amazing, but I don't think I could talk myself into the cost for one of my own though...I'd go with a regular MacBook

ok guys... Last May I graduated from college and my parents promised me I could pick out a graduation gift...

So I'm down to two choices... a Macbook or flat screen hd TV?

I'd prefer a Macbook as my laptop is pretty crappy, but I don't want something that is really expensive. So here are a couple of questions for those in the know...

How are Mac's with wireless internet?
Do their batteries last long when not plugged in?
How well does the video chat work?
And if I buy a basic version would I still get all the cool adobe stuff like photo shop?
Finally, would a basic package come with things like iDVD, garage band, etc.?

My MacBook Pro for work is great with either my home or work wireless (I work 2 days a week at home).

Mine's always plugged in, so I don't know how the battery life is.

                              Never tried video chat

You wouldn't get any Adobe software, you would have to purchase an Adobe Creative Suite that can get kinda expensive (at least from my experiences this is what you'd have to do)

I have iDVD, iTunes, Garage Band that came with it automatically.

Honestly, as to your decision (tv vs. laptop), I'd figure out the more expensive one (what size tv you'd get vs. laptop) and have them get you that hahaha
