If ads were simply ads, I wouldn't have a problem. I don't have a problem with the Verizon FiOS thing on the top of this page.

What I hate are flashing ads, popups, and anything with noise. I don't know why ad makers don't realize that those ads turn us off to the product.

I find it a little scarier they block Firefox from accessing the site, that cannot have good implications for the future.

While I don't care now, if this is precedent for larger websites doing the same thing it's insane. What not many realize is it's only going to hurt everyone in a vicious cycle: The website will most likely get lower hits b/c people who prefer firefox refuse to go back and forth to view will not visit. On the other hand, Mozilla may be hurt if websites decide to start blocking their browser.

Ahh.... I love regedit. A simple fix should do the trick...

That was kind of the whole point of my pithy comment....who cares what some guy nobody's heard of does with his blog? Obviously it's his site and he can do whatever he wants with it, so he's chosen to block Firefox users from hitting it. Whoopee. In the same way, I could block people with ISPs from New Jersey from accessing my blog. Would anyone care? Probably not, and nobody would be all that worried that suddenly the most prominent sites on the web like Yahoo.com would start blocking access to people from New Jersey.

If someone important does this, then we should care. But no major website is going to turn down tons of traffic, of their own volition, just because of some personal crusade by Joe Blow the blog owner about advertisements. Ergo....meh. I say meh.

Lets be honest, someone will develop a Firefox extension to get around a block on the browser. Hell, right clicking and hitting Open in IE Tab might do the same thing on a more primitive level.

have your stupid banner ads, google adwords, or whatever. I don't click on them anyways. Nothing pisses people off more than a banner ad with buzzing bugs or talking smilies.

Like the Yahoo article says, you can do the exact same thing with your HOSTS file. It works better than the FF blocker.

You can get a very good one here: http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm ... I never have a problem with ads now. And plus, installing stuff is a pain and I already have enough FF addons as is.

Adblocker works just fine for me. How is installing a pain? All you do is press the download button and restart firefox.

When you have 25+ other plugins, it really, really slows down your Firefox. Yes, I am a FF plugin addict. But there's no point of me installing stuff that I can achieve the same effect with something easier.
