    HDVT/PS3 problem (help!!!)

    I bought a samsung 23 inch lcd (480i/p. 720, 1080i).

First of all in 480i, madden and ncaa look HORRIBLE. It looks worse than ncaa games made for the ps2.

I bought a component cable for the ps3 (the sony one), i hook it up. The picture is better at 720p, but the players are blurry and there are a lot of jaggies. I can barely see the number of the players from the line of scrimmage, and the tv is 23 inch widescreen. What im trying to say is that even in high def the game is still blurry and doesnt exactly look like high-def.

    Any suggestions?
I think it may be the tv

Try adjusting the contrast and brightness settings. If it's too bright a picture it can wash out the picture some, making it look blurry. Contrast will sharpen up the picture.

The picture looks good for NCAA on my 32" LCD. I don't think I did anything fancy other than set the PS3 to component output and my cables are dirt cheap. Good luck in finding the problem.

If you have a Disney DVD (Invinceables, Cars) they have a THX calibrator. Run the tests and adjust the TV settings accordingly - it may help.

            its probably the tv.
best cable to use for the ps3 is an hdmi cable; does your tv have an hdmi slot??

Lower your Sharpness Settings to-0. That should do the trick

                Re: HDVT/PS3 problem (help!!!)

I got the hdmi cable in the mail today...games still are fuzzy blurry and jaggy...I have no idea what the problem is... in madden there is a blurriness around the players, their helmets are blurry and you cant even see their numbers (well u can but they are really fuzzy).

My normal cable also looks kind of crappy on my lcd too, although dvds looks awesome and are very crisp...Any help/suggestions?

What does calibrating your tv actually do? Maybe this is the problem?

And I dont own any disney dvds

It helps you adjust Color/Brightness/Contrast to their recommended settings. Basically you have patterns that you have to have look a certain way.

For instance a white box has to look a certain way, a THX symbol with a drop shadow (and optimal would be THX symbol with no drop shadow - this is accomplished by adjusting brightness) - I havent gone through all the tests. Its nothing technical just you playing with the settings from the TV remote.

You could rent Invinceables or borrow it - thats what I used yesterday. Public Library may rent them aswell - I think mine has them for $1

If you haven't already, Turn OFF GAME MODE & DnLE. It sounds like this may be the source of the problem

nevermind i found them, they were already off, and when i turned them on it didnt effect the blur or fuzziness of the players

I don't own a PS3, but the only other thing I can think of is your PS3 settings are not set correctly.
