    Lupe Fiasco's The Cool

Anyone hear Lupe's new track "Superstar"?

Really good I'm trying to get my hands on a copy of the album when that comes out

    The dynasty will return

Yup it's pretty good. I'm surprised that Lupe is coming out with another album so soon but I can't wait to hear it.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Which one was better, Food and Liquor or It was Written?

I actually haven't had the chance to listen to It Was Written. I have it on my computer but I haven't listened yet but I liked the advance of Food and Liquor alot more than the retail release.

              Nov.20

and I've heard that he's supposed to drop a video for "The Cool", like a "thriller" type video.

I've listened to a little bit.

I'm not a big fan of Lupe, but it's ok. He really needs to work on writing some good hooks. His songs without anyone featured on them just have wack choruses. Doesn't "The Coolest" chorus sound like some bull**** we would hear from a Young Joc?

Also, it seems like he forces an accent into his songs sometimes, kind of like Kanye does. They exaggerate their accents unecessarily and make some songs sound bad.

On a side note, his song "Hello/Goodbye," is over a beat that UNKLE put out a while back on their CD. You're telling me he couldn't find an original beat? Not to mention he makes it sound worse than the instrumental.

                  Overall it's just ok.

the hooks on his first cd were very nice....granted he had alot of guest spots...i think this album he was trying to show folks he could do alot himself ....as for the over-emphasis on words...that him & kanye's thing...been doing it since day 1...i dont mind it but I could see how it could bother some people....from what I've heard of the leaked version so far its cool...doesnt jump out to me like food & liquout but still has its bangers....the hook on Dumb it Down is tight

I've honestly never gave Lupe much of a chance, but I just acquired Food and Liquor as well as The Cool. So we'll see.

His track with Gemeni "We On" on his myspace is pretty exciting minus the chorus. Sometimes I wish choruses didn't exist.

                          Great album

and Snoop came thru with his verse on Hi-Definition, I was kinda worried when I saw he was being featured.

For a Hip Hop head like you, that's shocking. You need to listen to that ASAP.

Agreed. Food and Liquor is one of my favorite Hip Hop albums period. So for him to come out with a lackluster second effort is shocking. I mean the album is cool (no pun), just very underwhelming from what my expectations were. Maybe after a couple more spins it'll grow on me. I love "Dumb it down".

Yeah, he's talkin about Nasir. Lupe claims that IWW was his biggest inspiration and favorite album, thus the comparisons.

Let me know what you think. Despite the fact that I'm underwhelmed with The Cool, he is still one of the sickest with the wordplay, and I truly believe he is the future of Hip Hop. Some of the things he says makes me have to rewind.
