    Copying VHS to PC??

Can this be done without buying a expensive program. I have some home movies that I want to put to CD evetually. Many of them are starting to fade, so I want to put them on CD.

I'd think the easiest way would be converting them to DVD, and then rip the DVD to the PC.

But is there another way to just do it straight to the PC?

If you get a TV tuner card, you can plug in a VCR via composite cables or a coaxial cable and record using the software that comes with it to your hard drive. Unfortunately it will only go as fast as the video is long since the tape is an analog format.

I was sort of wondering the same thing.
