    TiVo question

If I buy a used Tivo Series 2 for $50 from someone, what steps do I take to have their service? I can just call them to set it up right? And does it work with any digital cable service?

Yeah you can call them to begin service, checkout this link
    and this link

this should give you more info, Tivo is great especially on football weekends and you should have no problem connecting to your cable service.

    Good Luck

not only do i have tivo, but also a dvr through my cable company. i never watch anything live anymore. if it's a sporting event, i'll at least wait a half hour or so just so i can skip past most of the commercials. i haven;t seen a commercial in so long.

I'm going to buy it from some guy, saw his ad on Craig List. So basically, when I buy it, I just activate it? As far as connecting it, should just be run some wires through the tivo, then to my digital cable box right?

yeah, just call tivo and activate it. as for hooking it up, i have a bit of a different setup. my cable box was not compatible with the tivo, so i had to use the infrared remote thing on the front. i didn't like the unreliability of that, so i just bought a splitter and sent one to my cable box and one to my tivo. i only have the first 99 channels on the tivo, but at least it works better.

i just noticed how complicated that sounded. i really is easy though.
