I can't believe he has cancer that bad, you wouldn't be able to tell that he had anything just looking at him.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Dying professor gives one last lecture
Impressive. I liked what he said about letting your kids paint their own room.
If anything stops creativity in its tracks, it's the worries that what you are about to create will get negative feedback and be disliked.
Thanks for the link, very encouraging.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: Dying professor gives one last lecture
he was definitely moving around well for someone with such bad cancer. I couldn't hear the audio since I am at work... did he pass away after the lecture?http://flotn.blogspot.com

I watched my Dad go from looking just like that, to nothing in 2 months when he had colon cancer. It's a sickening disease that just sucks life out of you.Comment

Re: Dying professor gives one last lecture
That's terrible, I used to be hospitalized alot due to asthma when i was younger and I always felt bad for the young cancer patients since they had to give up so much time to be in the hospital and taking medicine that made them so weak.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Re: Dying professor gives one last lecture
He's a Carnegie Mellon University professor. CMU is a very highly regarded computer science/robotics school in Pittsburgh. The camera on a wire that runs during MNF games was one of their inventions.
Anyhow, he's still alive. There was an article on him in the Post-Gazette this past week. I guess he has a few months left to live. I don't know how he's staying so positive.Comment

Re: Dying professor gives one last lecture
Yeah, that was a truly inspirational speech. Cancer is a terrible disease. I hope that we can figure out a cure!
I watched my mother battle with cancer for almost a decade. The fight that cancer patients have to battle is truly a life or death deal. I can't believe some of the pain my Mom had to endure. Then she would make herself look normal somehow when she would be out in public. So everybody thought that she was perfectly fine. Nobody knew the pain that she was actually in. Nobody wants to look like a cancer patient, so I'm sure most people with cancer conceal their pain.Comment

Re: Dying professor gives one last lecture
You really got to give props to that professor. Sometimes when one is faced with such grim prospects it's better to stay upbeat and try to look at life from a positive bent which is what this guy is doing. I don't think I could stay so positive tho.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

It's always terrible when someone has a terminal disease but he has to be commended for how he is coping.Comment
