Brotherhood - Season Two Discussion (Showtime, Sundays @ 10PM)

I'm very, very excited for this show. The only thing I'm worried about is Michael's recovery. Looks like they gloss over it, which is good. It would feel very "me too" (Tony Sopranos' recovery) if they spent a lot of time on it.

Slightly off-topic, but for the record, Showtime has completely stolen HBO's thunder.

Weeds has eclipsed Curb Your Enthusiasm, I like Californication over Entourage as the "hipster" show, The Sopranos is done but even season one of Brotherhood gave 6A a run for its money, and Dexter fills the niche void left by Carnivale & Oz well.

The plot is about a pair of brothers on two sides of the law in a Rhode Island neighborhood. One is a politician, the other an Irish mafia gangster. It's not over the top, and shares a realistic tone similar to The Sopranos.

I thought the premiere was excellent. They do a good job with all the characters. Michael was really good, Decko is falling apart and Tommy is playing both sides as usual. Season 1 was good and 2 started off nice. Dope show, highly recommended.

Unfortunately not too many OSers watch this series. Sunday's episode showcased the coldest, weirdest hitman I have ever seen.

This season blows away the first.

lol, this is The Wire of Showtime. Excellent, top-shelf writing & acting and critical acclaim yet soft ratings.

Both "The Wire" and "Brotherhood" have poor ratings, but I think "The Wire" has to beat out "Brotherhood's" paltry "just over one half of a million" viewership. The website METACRITIC gives "The Wire" a 98 rating, it's highest score for a TV show. I like "The Wire" better because it displays it's edginess more, focusing a little more on the streets than on the family. For the record "Brotherhood" got a 75 rating. BRO75

I can't believe that Michael is ratting to the police to get rid of Freddy. Now that he thinks Freddy ordered the skull bashing I bet he stops cooperating so that he has a chance to kill him. I never understood why he puts up with Freddy in the first place. If took him out, all the rest of those guys would fall right in line.

Great series though, I hope it doesn't get canceled. It amazes me what people would rather watch.

I never understood the rationale behind Mike's cooperation with the police to get Freddy. Freddy ordered Mike to take a money hit on a job and all of a sudden he wants to rat Freddy out? Of course at the time Mike didn't know Freddy ordered a hit on him or that Decco did the skull bashing on his own.

Loving this show, and yeah this season is definitely something else compared to season 1. I did however think Michael ratting was poorly put together but they really have an easy out with the head injury, so he can just flip a switch like he did with the baby. I haven't seen this past sunday's episode yet (was there one?) but am looking forward to it...

I've watched it since it has been on the air, and while I think it is overall a decent show, it bores me to tears sometimes, especially when they are focusing on Tommy and the political aspect.

They did say Michael would eventually get his memory back. I don't know how it would work within the tone of the show, but imagine if he suddenly remembered that night.
