Quick question.
I just bought a new TV (50 inch Samsung plasma) and I've noticed that images will stay on the TV for a while after I play a game. They go away after a while, but is this something I should be concerned about? Is it possible to permanently burn-in images? I talked with a friend of mine and he said that it would not burn-in permanantly no matter how long I played. I just want to be sure.Tags: None -
Re: Quick question.
OK, eventhough no one has answered my question I have another one. I played Guitar Hero for literally 30 minutes and the two boxes in the lower right and left hand corners are (and have been) shadowed on my screen. The strange thing is that I can only see them when I select an input that is not available, in which the screen is black. Any other color (including white) or any other light color I cannot see it. However, when it is on something like component 1 (which I don't have anything hooked up to) it goes to a black screen and then I can see them. If the screen is black in a game or on a movie I cannot see them. Its only when a component is selected that does not have anything hooked up to it. What is the deal with this? I'm beginning to wish I bought an LCD. Do LCD's have burn-ins? -
Re: Quick question.
LCD's look much better, imo. Not sure about your plasma burn-in issue. I try to stay away from plasmas - it's hard to, because of the price difference. I have a 40" Samsung LCD that cost more than my buddy's 50+ plasma, but I'd rather have a better picture than a bigger picture.Comment

Re: Quick question.
It would take very long time to get burn in on a plasma. Probably always a good idea to turn on the tv after you play a game. At least for 10-15 minutes. What model # is the tv ?My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: Quick question.
Sounds like the TV is on the default mode when you bought it (AKA Torch mode). Set it to movie mode and adjust from there. The contrast should be way low.Comment

Re: Quick question.
I've lowerd contrast and everything else to 50. I still don't have the model number handy, as I'm not at home at the moment. I talked with a friend of mine and he told me that LCD's are more likely to burn-in than plasmas, which I found surprising. I'm also going to set the pixel shift to 4 instead of 2. Images are retained on my TV right now but only for about 5-10 minutes. Will this stop once the TV has been used more?Comment

LCD's have ZERO chance of burn in, your friend was incorrect.I've lowerd contrast and everything else to 50. I still don't have the model number handy, as I'm not at home at the moment. Re: Quick question.
Yeah you should have gotten a LCD. Plasmas are terrible for games in regards to burn in. I'd exchange it now while you still can.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Quick question.
I gamed on a Plasma for 4 years with zero problems. Pretty impossible to burn in any images, especially if you watch tv on it too. If you paused a game and left it on for a week, you would get burn in. But it's rare.
p.s. I would lower contrast to 25 or so.My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx
