    The HD Effect on Movies

Watching most of my movies on HD lately, one thing is starting to stand out more than anything: the best shots are the ones in which everything is in focus. Conversely, it's becoming rather annoying seeing shots (or entire scenes for that matter) where only the characters and their immediate surroundings are in focus, with the rest of the screen a blurry mess. For my money, I never want to see another frame of television or film where anything is out of focus. I hope directors and such are listening.

The problem with that is that most movie screens these days are NOT in HD. It's going to take at least 5-10 years before you'll see that kind of uniformity.

So it looks like it's going to be tough luck for you.

      You could try that approach!

If you're talking movie theaters, I wouldn't worry. Christie projectors and other DLP-based projectors have been trickling in since 2003. In some areas, even earlier.

If you're talking about movies shot in HD, the number is always growing. David Fincher, Robert Rodriguez, Michael Mann, Steven Soderbergh, etc. have all shot features in HD.
