yeah, i've looked at various suggestions people have given and it will never go counter-clockwise for me either!

I don't know how people are "tricking" their brain to get it to see her going in both directions. Guess our brain is just too stubborn to be tricked.

I saw this on another forum a couple days ago, and the first time I looked at it on here and the other place, I saw it going clockwise. I consider myself to be far more left brained than right, though.

If you just look at the shadow of her pivot foot, you can "make" the image change at will.

its as simple as peripheral vs tunnel vision

depth of field vs looking straight on.

this is why you see some people in here saying focus on the shadow vs looking right at her.

I can see her turning both ways. The page says try and focus and see if you can watch her spin the other way. Is this my brain seeing her spin or is the animation spinning one way then the other?

It is your brain changing its perception. The image does not just randomly change directions every minute or whatever.

If you focus on certain parts, namely the foot or shadow of the foot that stays on the ground, you can manipulate it at will. A few minutes ago, I had it so that I was seeing the dancer go back and forth a little ways each direction, without even making the full turn. Once you get it to where you can see both directions easily, try blinking for a second as the leg in the air is back behind or just to the side. When you open your eyes back up, she should be spinning the opposite direction of when you closed them.

I saw it clockwise when I first looked at it, but looking at the brain function descriptions I use more of my left brain.
