    Alice in Chains Acoustic Tour

If there are any of you guys left that still love the 90s rock scene you have to see AIC when they come to town.

I live in Raleigh, NC, but drove down to Myrtle Beach, SC (4hrs) to see AIC on saturday night. I was extremely impressed. It had the same kind of atmosphere that the "MTV Unplugged" CD and DVD had to it.

This was the coolest of concerts that I've been too. You didn't have to have flashy lights or a huge screen with fluff on it. It was about the music, the interaction with fans, and all those AIC songs that are great. Half of the songs they played they didn't even remotely touch when they played on MTV Unplugged. It was awesome. It's not like you saw that show 6yrs later again.

Again, if you any of you guys like AIC still, GO SEE THEM when the come to town.

The guy singing, William, he's not Layne, but he sure as heck does a damn good job at singing those songs. All parts, high and low, screams, etc. Not to mention the guy plays half of the guitar solos because he's that good! And the guys, Jerry, Mike, and Kenny, are still so damn good!

I won't ever forget this show. It was the songs of my Teen years... memories. It was awesome. I can't say that enough.

I used to love AIC when I was in high school, but I honestly haven't heard anything of what they sound like now without Layne. So they still sound good?

Duvall does a good job. He's not lane but he's close enough as far as range. I saw them with Velvet Revolver. I left after VR's 2nd song..

Huge AIC fan, it looks like I may have to try to head down to KC to check them out. They used to have an amazing acoustic sound, I'm interested in seeing what they're like now.

I didn't see the acoustic show, though, it was a normal show. It was well worth it if you are an AIC fan.

The acoustic show was like MTV Unplugged, but half of the set list was different and 90mins long. Jerry, Kenny, and Mike are even more solid now than before, not to mention that William Duvall is pretty damn good on guitar as well.

Be it electric or acoustic... if you love AIC, but never got to see them live and in person, GO!!! It's damn close to what it was like back then. As a band though they are extremely tight sounding.

I'm glad that William is such a good fit on Vocals for them.

I hope they put out a new CD.

I am really hoping this show makes it to Cleveland. I saw them last year on their own small club tour and it was amazing. William does a pretty good job, though no one can EVER replace Layne.
If they do end up releasing new material, I hope they change the name of the band out of respect to Layne.
If you're a big AIC fan, check out Jerry Cantrell's solo albums, especially Degradation Trip Vol. 1 and 2. Great stuff, though it's scary to think how it good it would've been with Layne's vocals.

My cousin is the guitarist in a fairly big AIC cover band in the Boston area. They do a really good job of covering them, and do an acoustic show every once in a while. I really do prefer AIC acoustic as opposed to plugged in. I really like Duvall too.

Hardcore Chains fan here. They are not coming my way,nonetheless-I'm glad the show left a good impression on you. That's something you keep forever. I saw AIC live on tv once and although William isn't Layne-I don't think he's trying to be. He's just paying tribute IMO.
Question-Did they mention anything in concert about realeasing some new material? As long as Cantrell is pulling the strings I'd invest in it.

There's no talk of a NEW cd, but the fans keep telling them to make a new CD be it under the Alice in Chains name or with another name. Being the huge AIC fan that I am, I'm not against them using the Alice in Chains name. It's not the rest of the bands fault that Layne OD'd. If it was my band I passed on, I'd want them to continue on and make the BAND NAME proud. William Duvall is doing a great job singing the songs and I'd like to hear him doing his thing on an actual studio album.

They've been touring for over a year now and the 3 of them plus William sound so damn tight as a band. I really hope they do a new CD.

And for the comments about Jerry Cantrell's Degradation Trip Vol 1&2 double disc... it's the AIC sound minus Layne, BUT it shows how much of Jerry was really behind the AIC sound. That's why I'm ok with them continuing on as Alice in Chains with William Duvall.

Completely agree with your thoughts on Chains DXZeke. I believe Cantrell(and bandmates) have plenty of gas left in the engine. I have the "Boggy Depot" C.D by Jerry. It was panned by some, but it is versatile Has "chains"sounding stuff>example"Jesus' face" and experimental Cantrell-and yes,I'd buy a new AIC CD with a new singer WITHOUT listening to it first. These guys IMO are that good.

I would feel that way if they still had layne but not with a new guy and not since its been so long. I think they should go under another name myself. When you lose a drummer or a bass player I would keep the name, but when you lose the lead singer to a band I think the name should be changed.

Boggy Depot was a decent record with some really good songs, but I think Jerry tried to avoid the Alice sound a little bit to distinguish himself as a solo artist. When he did Degredation Trip, it's almost like he said "Screw it. Layne's not coming back. I'm going to do an Alice-sounding record."

I listened to the September 29th show this morning, it was really good. They sounded great. I hope these guys do get in a studio and put a CD out.
