The Top Ten (out of 50) will make the playoffs in two five men semi finals. In the semis you can only vote for one "journalist",( cough, cough), and of course the same holds true in the one man on one man final. This is a 17 man entry. The final Poll #4 will have the remaining 13. This poll will close in 24 hours.

These polls are fun, but again they are proving just how bad TV sports journalism and broadcasting has become in the U.S.

I voted for McCarver, Packer, Lupica, Smith and Madden.

Lupica is the worst of them all imo, but at least I can avoid his **** and just not read it. McCaver, Packer, and Madden all call games I want to see, and Smith is always on TV as well.

Hands down for me, Stephen A. I hate to see him on anything other than as an analyst on Sportscenter and even then he's annoying.

I voted for

Mike Lupica: Typical loud mouth NY media guy. His attitude is laughable because he was probably the kid who got beaten up on a daily basis.

Woody Paige: Just plain annoying

Colin Cowherd: Says stupid things just to rile people up but if he didn't say those things his opinion wouldn't even make a ripple in the sports world.

"Screamin'" A. Smith: While he can be funny at times he's the epitome of "guy you wanna punch"

Max Kellerman: His ego killed his career. If he had been a good boy and earned his dues like Reali has done he'd still be working for ESPN in some capacity.

Tim McCarver: Can actually be smart at times but senility has absolutely made him a blubbering fool. It doesn't help that he always tries to make "jokes" with Joe Buck. "sigh"

Pam Ward: Makes every game she call nearly untolerable. I'm not against women doing PBP (Robin Roberts was quite good) but she doesn't really have a feel for football. Luckily her partner (Mike Adamle I think) makes the games somewhat bearable.

Billy Packer: Needs to "packer" it up and go home along with Vitale.


Considered: Madden but his years with Summerall makes up for whatever problems he has today. I also considered Mitch Albom but giving him votes would seem like a validation of his "i'm the best, look at me!" pompous attitude.

Paige, Steven A Smith, Madden and Packer. I can stand Skip Bayless (maybe the riduculousness humours me ) but Steven A, Madden and Packer...horrible.

Lupica's only saving grace for me is that he's a terrific writer. I always give a bit of a pass to journalists who can write yet who are still incredibly annoying or pious on TV, such as Lupica or Albom.

At least they have credentials. It's the other fools who are nothing but hot air -- Stuart Scott, especially -- who really piss me off.

I kinda feel bad for Stu Scott. He was decent with Eisen back in the day and had his own little schtick without it being too over the top. Before you know it, ESPN turned him into a caricature of himself.

Should've gotten out earlier like Eisen and Olbermenn.

I like to wipe my *** with Lupica's writing.

There are very few writers out there that are more hypocritical and who have more of an agenda than him.


I haven't even seen him on TV much. Last time I remember him on TV, it was like a week after he accused Oklahoma of running up the score despite not even watching the game. Everyone had been killing him for weeks, and he basically just bashed Oklahoma fans and acted like he was better than everybody and didn't owe anyone an explanation.

The one guy on this list who got a lot of votes that I didn't vote for is Woody Paige. He is as dumb or dumber than anyone else on this list, but for some reason he amuses me.
