Writers going on strike in November?

This would piss me off beyound belief...

If this screws up the number of episodes The Office or LOST puts out, I'm driving to Cali to hunt down some of the waiters errrr "writers" of these shows.

That's why some of the new shows have ordered extra scripts, just in case of the strike...

Hopefully it doesn't jack up the shows too much, we'll see.

It sucks but what can you do? If this does in fact happen I'm sure I can find something else to occupy my time.

Aren't these people already paid an outrageous salary to more or less plagiarize old shows as it is. If they strike, fire their asses, maybe look for people with actual talent and we'll see the quality of television go up.

If this delays Lost I'm gonna be really pissed.

hopefully die off forever... that's the only thing I would enjoy about a writer strike!

Re: Writers going on strike in November?

Writers have historically been shafted by Hollywood when it comes to compensation/recognition for their work.

Yes they get paid a lot but it's literally nothing compared to the rest of Hollywood. In addition to that, writers make pay in stages. Not every credited writer gets full financial credit for their work.

Maybe I'm biased because I envision myself in a similar position sometime in the future but it's been like this since the beginning. The writers want more money because Hollywood has found new streams of revenue thanks to the foreign market and DVD sales. I think it's within their right to demand a percentage of those sales.

I also don't know how much of Lost would be affected. Are Damon Lindeloff and Carlton Cuse writers by contract?

I don't think they are. I believe they are contracted as writer/producers. They could always write the episodes themselves.

I hope this doesn't effect any of the 50,000 TV shows that I happen to watch.
