    Laptop Battery Question...

I posted this in the "What Really Grinds My Gears" thread but I figure it'd get more exposure here.

My Inspiron 6000's battery is at the point where if I unplug the laptop, it immediately shuts down. Anyone have any info on this "TechPower" company that makes laptop batteries? I'm looking at this one -- http://www.amazon.com/TechPower-Prem...2948886&sr=8-4

It has to the battery, right? It's not the power cord itself?

Any help or suggestions would be great.

it's the battery, my old laptop did the same thing. it sucks to have to restart your computer to move it to another room.

Definately the battery. I used to use my laptop all the time while it was plugged in, and it killed the battery in no time.

So what about this battery? I haven't been able to find any "reviews", but wondering if the brand/type really makes a difference anyway....

my laptop battery got to the point where it wouldn't last 20 minutes before being drained. I've had my HP notebook in for repairs for about the last month now and should be getting it back this week. When I get it back, I won't use the battery unless i'm away from home. I've had it for less than a year so HP replaced the battery for free before I sent the notebook in for repairs.

I also use the laptop all the time with the cord plugged in and I just recently lost my battery. Is using the power cord all the time what kills the battery?

You also paid twice as much for your laptop compared to an Inspiron. Not that that's a bad thing just pointing it out.

I have to replace my power cord which has a short in it. Anyone know a good place to get a cheap one for an Inspiron 1150.

If your laptop is under warranty still call Dell and they will replace it for free. If not, I would look on ebay.

I just bought my daughter a Gateway laptop. Do I have her run it near dry off of the battery alone? Do not plug in unless you are down to near out?

I was wondering the same thing. How is that Gateway laptop working out for her Bolt? I was looking at a sealed Gateway on ebay, they were around $390 brand new and not refurbs.

I got her this one, so far very awesome! Me and my son keep trying to jack it from her to be online in the living room while we are on XBL haha.

                            It is great.

                              Bolt,

That one looks nice. Ever since I started my new job, I had to return the laptop I had back to them so now I borrow my wifes laptop. LOL! I really don't want to wreck this one on her from use, so I've been looking for a cheap one that I could just cruise the net.
