    Re: Amazing Race 12

You know what I love? How dramatic Nathan gets when he insults Jennifer. I didn't realize thats he was the worst person of all-time in the entire universe at every single activity she does. She can't even obey his orders correctly. "I don't care what you say, we're running right now!" Nathan said authoritatively as they left their marked car to ask a convenience store clerk for directions. "I know," Jennifer replied. She began to run. "Jennifer!" Nate yelled in frustration as he zipped up his jacket. "Will you stop and wait for me?" What a loser you are, Nate. First you want her to run. Then you want her to stop running so you can fiddle with your coat. What, you couldn't have held out the 15 seconds it was going to take to enter the store? I guarantee if she was holding you up you would have yelled at her. Oh, wait....

    ---FLASHBACK===

Nathan (As Jennifer lags behind): You're the WORST EVER AT THIS!

    ---END FLASHBACK---

Oh, the irony. Which is not to say Jennifer is a saint. No, she showed her "Bitch"iness in full force at the Detour. But More on that later.

It was awesome that, yet again, the racers traveled to a country they had never been to before. Let's see if the producers were able to sustain that streak for the rest of the race.

Airport Drama is great. Especially when one particular ticketing agent, a woman who could barely speak English, blatantly lied to several teams about flight availability. I hope she got fired. It would be one thing if a team had been rude, but Nicholas and Donald were courteous and did nothing to get on the woman's bad side. It seemed like she was arbitrarily choosing teams to let on the flight, as just seconds after telling Nicholas and Donald the seats were full she gave seats to Nathan and Jennifer and Shana and Jennifer. Luckily for Nick and Don, there was a second flight arriving ten minutes later. With delays, you never know which flight will arrive first, and both flights, while not delayed, arrived at almost exactly the same time. Nick and Don continued to be one of my favorite teams, as well, with their humor about the flight situation. Rather than panic and throw a hissy-fit, they laughed it off and got an almost-as-good flight.

Donald: C'est la vie. It's French, in case you wanted to know.

Ronald and Christina are idiots. But I'm getting ahead of myself. First, I need to mention Christina deciding to tell her father at every chance that she loves him. WHY? Because, in her opinion, well, she didn't really have a reason. She mentioned that's not something he says to her, and maybe that was the reason. Every time she said she said "I love you SO MUCH!" he didn't even acknowledge the comment. What a great father.

Even worse was the scene at the airport. Telling her he was trying to "fossilize" her all because she made an unwise suggestion was sickening. Especially when he told her the suggestion that they search for flights in Paris was "unacceptable." All he needed to say was that it would be wiser for the two of them to search for early flights now. No need for him to berate her like she's worthless. I wonder how he ever made a career as a salesman with that attitude.

Now on to the stupidity. They think they have this great flight and act secretive. Unfortunately, it's the worst flight of any of the racers. When they find out that there is an earlier flight, they choose NOT to book it, rationalizing that with their flight, they have more time to make the connection. Yeah, and the other teams had over an hour (according to the ticket agent). What a risky connection. Not.

Speaking of idiots, Shana and Jennifer continue to unimpress me. Who cares whether or not people see what seats you have? "Oh, no! They won't let us see their seats! OMG! We're screwed! Oh, wait. If they won't let us see what seats they have, they must have seats near the front. Guess we better ask for seats near the front, too." That quote probably sums up the feelings of every other racers. Real sneaky, Shana and Jennifer. What great racers. I HATE the blondes. Especially Jennifer. She continued to bitch about using the U-Turn. If you didn't want to use it, why the hell didn't you say something about it? Why didn't you say, "I'm not doing it." Stupidity is the only reason. Great, you never wanted to U-Turn Lorena and Jason. Great, you want to hold it against your teammate. Great, except for the fact that you SAID NOTHING until after you had done it. Please take an IQ test and post the results on line for all to laugh at.

Rachel and TK are great for the most part, but his rationalization against using the U-Turn was further evidence that these two "hippies" will not win this race. Being calm and laid back is one thing, but you still have to be able to kick it into high gear. No team has ever walked through the race, and Rachel and TK sure as hell won't be the first.

I love it when they make the teams use maps and try and navigate foreign countries. I love it even more when Jennifer tries to direct Nathan without a map. Of course they got lost.

Jennifer, again showing her "race smarts" complained that asking for directions took up valuable time. Yeah, and I suppose driving aimlessly without a clue as to where your destination is saves time. I was actually rooting for bus to hit her.

The roadblock was uneven because no local seemed to know where the hair-salon was. Nick entered the roadblock first and left it last or second-to-last (depends on the editing). Anyone else besides me notice that Donald didn't berate him and instead was encouraging? Maybe he should give Ronald parenting (or in Donald's case grandparenting) lessons.

Speaking of Ronald berating Christina, here was another gem:

Christina: Good luck Daddy! I love you more than anything!

    Ronald: Silence, s'il vous plait!

    At least he said please.

The Detour was great. I would have loved to try the walking on stilts.

My favorite team, the Goths, were in great form as usual, kind to each other and the locals. When they messed up the counting, they simply started over. No yelling. No screaming. I really hope they win.

Rachel and TK breezed through the stilt-walking, so they placed first. As I said before, I think they are too laid back to stand a chance, but at-least they won what, in my opinion, is the greatest prize the Race has ever given. I really want to go on that Japan trip.

Azaria and Hendekea struggled a bit at the picket-fence Detour and finally didn't win a leg. Third is still great, though, and I still think they are the front-runners. That is unless Hendekea doesn't blow a fuse with Azaria. All he does is order her around, act like he's better than her, and grin sarcastically any time she speaks. I'm surprised she can take it. Especially given the fact that she hasn't messed anything up and has been equally as strong, if not better, than he has.

Speaking of controlling, here is another reason why I love the Goths:

Kynt (paraphrased): I don't control Vyxsin, I guide her.

Kynt and Vyxsin have never been mean to any locals. Jennifer (of Nate and) has. She screamed at the costumed dancers and violin players at the festival, yelling at them to shut-up. I wish I could have shut her up. She chastises Nathan for counting out-loud. He tells her he has to count out loud, and that if it's bothering her she should let him get ahead. That way, he won't be distracting her. Instead, she tail-gates him, continues to chastise him for verbally counting, and then shoves her way past him in a fit. Then she grows even more outrages when Nathan calls her a "bitch." Was it the wrong thing to say? Yes, and I have no doubt this couple won't be together much longer. However, in what is great irony, Jennifer constantly refers to other racers as being "bitches."

The best part about Nathan and Jennifer's relationship is the fact that they scream at each other one minute, then compliment each other the next. For example:

"I hate who you have become!"

    5 seconds later

    "Great work, Baby!"

    OR:

    "Bitch!"

    5 seconds later

    "Good job Baby!"

Earlier I said Ronald and Christina were idiots. I meant it. Yay! Let's walk on stilts with a hernia! Real genius, guys! You win the stupidest players award. Please leave the race on the next possible leg.

As for the elimination, I couldn't be happier. I was rooting for the blondes to lose, and they didn't disappoint. It was hilarious that Phil did the "this may be a non-elimination leg" pause. He must have known the viewers wouldn't like these two and wanted them gone. I'm sure everyone (even though the producers said there would be no non-elims) gave a collective "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" when Phil paused. Fortunately, it was all a trick. An evil trick, at that. One Jennifer down, one more to go.

      here here.

the goths had the right idea when they both counted the pickets and compared their numbers at each interval. that and their philosophy on life (much like the first hippies) is why they will be there at the end.

we all know how well older participants do, but i really hope the grandson and grandfather can go far. we'll see.

Is it wrong that I wanted the bus to hit the blondes?

I hope Nicolas and Donald win, they're definitely my favorites.

              Re: Amazing Race 12

Last night's episode was, in my opinion, the weakest of the season. The fact that, despite being the weakest, it was still a great leg is a testament to just how great this season has been. And it was still better than 90% of what's currently on TV, even when those other shows are at their best.

Croatia was an awesome location choice. I don't know about anyone else, but there are now way too many countries I want to visit thanks to this show. The scenery was incredible, the landmarks were great (such as the old forts), and I wouldn't be surprised if the teams didn't leave the country next leg.

Ronald and Christina did much better this leg, both competitively and personally. Christina's remark that Ronald should treat her as nicely as he treated the ticketing agent was the perfect reminder, however, that Ron is still an ***-hole. It's easy for teams to get along when you are coasting through the leg, mainly because there is little to argue about. We'll see how much Ronald has "changed" as soon as they are knocked out of first. Given that I do not feel they are a strong team, that should be as soon as next leg.

They are, however, a smart team. Or at least somewhat rational. Who would have thought the airport ticketing offices would be closed at 2 a.m.? That's never happened before, right? WRONG. Hey, let's drive to the airport and wait around for the offices to open when we could be reserving our tickets over the phone like Ronald and Christina did! I mean, it's like there won't be a ton of seats available on the first flight, right? WRONG.

So Ronald and Christina effortlessly ensured themselves a spot on the first flight while the other teams expounded lots of effort to ensure they wouldn't be on the flight. Oh, no! The Goths are talking to a travel agent about tickets! Maybe they found a better flight! Why don't we lose our spot in line and go find out! It may be just me, but aren't the racers traveling in TEAMS OF TWO? Why not have one person go check out the Goth's situation while the other waits in line? Or would that be too smart and blatantly obvious. Nate and Jennifer were second in line. They both left, only to find out that the Goths were getting the same flight everyone else was trying for. They wound up almost missing their flight. Great work, guys.

The same applies to Azaria and Hendekea. On second thought, just Azaria, the Grade-A Douche. Hendekea doesn't want to leave the line. She's correct. Azaria realizes his mistake and yells at her? On what planet is that even remotely acceptable. He lashes out at because she "was right" and doesn't need to "throw it in his face." There are irony bells a-ringing. First of all, she didn't throw anything in his face. Second of all, he has thrown every mistake she has made right back at her. He has complained, chastised her, and been an arrogant jerk. Then, when he makes a mistake, he somehow manages to get mad at her. It's too bad you can't dump your brother like Jennifer should dump Nathan. I dislike both Jennifer and Nathan, but since he cheated on her, she should be the one who ends the relationship. And I can just imagine the conversation:

Jen: Nathan, we need to talk. Actually, I need to talk and you need to shut up.

Nate: Oh, that's real great, Jen. You're such a bitch!

Jen: Don't call me that! See, this is why I think we need to break...well, I think we need to stop-

Nate: Oh my god! Hurry up, Jen! You're the worst ever at this!

Jen: Don't even talk to me...***. I'm breaking up with you.

Nate: Oh my god! I hate you so much!

Thanks to Azaria's mistake, he and Hendekea wind up arriving in Croatia dead last. There's added drama as the ticket agent tells them the Prague flights have all been delayed (causing the two teams to miss their connection), but even the delays weren't enough to save them.

My favorite team, the Goths, arrived first but had trouble, with Nate and Jen, finding the Roadblock, the worst task the Race has had this year. It was great in theory, a jig-saw puzzle like hunt to find a stone that would fit inside the missing hole in the wall, but the task was way too easy. None of the teams struggled, it looked like it can't have taken more than five minutes, and the task was, as a result, incredibly boring.

The tandem zip-lines looked awesome, and I wish I could have done them. It was funny that Christina kept asking if the zip-line was safe. She didn't seem nervous about being suspended below the bike in leg one, so why was this worse? If anything, this was safer, and it's not like the producer's would have the contestants engage in life-threatening challenges.

Speaking of Ronald and Christina, I noticed that they've managed to learn key phrases in the language of every country that they have been to. I don't know why more teams haven't done this.

While the Roadblock was weak, the Detour made up for it. Ronald being unable to row the boat while facing forward was hilariously pathetic. Even more pathetic was Nathan and Jennifer's lame attempts at rowing. Since he's stronger than she is, he kept pushing the boat to the left. When he stopped rowing to compensate, she yelled at him. Classic.

Nate and Jennifer also win the award for stupidest racers of the leg. You know what? I'm not even going to try and get another taxi-cab. Because that one driver wouldn't let us in the car, I'm going to hitchhike, because none of the other cab drivers would possibly want to take us. Sure, Ronald and Christina got a ride, but...but....wait. There is no but. We're a bunch of moronic losers. Seriously, what part of former seasons made them think hitchhiking was ok? Was it season 10, when Tom and Terry were penalized for accepting a ride on a moped? Was it season two, where Oswald and Danny declined an offer for a ride, stating explicitly that hitchhiking was illegal? Did it fail to mention this in the rulebook, Nate and Jen? Did you think it said "Hitchhiking is not only an acceptable but encouraged form of transportation on the race?" What did you think would happen when you showed up at the Pit-Stop? If you thought Phil was going to say, "That was pretty genius, guys, accepting that ride," that you are even dumber than I thought. Fortunately for you, but unfortunately for the rest of America that was watching, this did not lead to elimination.

Continuing on with the "two year-old" stupidity of Nate and Jen (and my two year-old cousin is probably smarter than them), Jen says she's been using the race to gauge their relationship and doesn't know where it will end up. Yeah, because going on a reality show to determine whether or not a guy is right for you is real wise decision. You have lost at life, and I am not talking about the board game. Here's hoping you get eliminated next leg.

As for who got eliminated this leg, I have no problems with the result. Azaria is a jerk, and I only wish Hendekea had realized this. Instead, she expresses how grateful she is that Azaria challenged her and pushed her during the race. Azaria will no doubt find some way to blame the loss on her, but for now he's content talking about how he controls her. Hey, at least he doesn't feign total innocence.

Two weeks from now: Looks like the Goths meet their first dispute.

As long as Jennifer gets off my television screen in the near future, I'll be happy.

                Re: Amazing Race 12

Phil: Kynt and Vyxsin, you are the last team to arrive.
Vyxsin: We kind of figured as much.
Phil: The good news is this is the first of only two non-elimination legs.
                America: What the hell?

The producers pulled a fast one on us viewers. They told us there would be no non-elimination legs, and it was brilliant. Because I didn't expect it to happen, the fact that it did shocked me. Producers 1, Viewers 0.

It's funny how great some teams get along when they are doing well. It takes a bad leg to show true colors. Which is why I have even more respect for Rachel and TK and the Goths.

Yeah, Kynt and Vyxsin yelled at each other (though it was mainly Kynt screaming at Vyxsin to stop the car or to shut up). But you could tell they were fatigued and frustrated, and they didn't dwell on the fight or stay pissed at each other, ala Nate and Jen.

Rachel and TK showed why they truly are meant for each other. Ronald would have belittled Christina, and Jen would have told Nate how much she hates him (and vice-versa), but Rachel said nothing mean or nasty to TK when he choked at the Roadblock. Arriving second and leaving fifth should have gotten them eliminated, but car trouble for the Goths saved them.

The plane roadblock was awesome. Sitting there in an open seat plane searching the picturesque view below makes want to go on this show. Maybe we should have an OS team. We could have t-shirts that say "Operation Sports: Dedicated to Sports Gaming." I guarantee that team would be the most popular in the show's history.

Phil: Another first place finish for team Operation Sports.
rsnomar05: Maybe you need to adjust the degree of difficulty slider.
Phil: The sliders actually don't work, but the producers have promised a patch to address the faulty route marker issue.
rsnomar05: Great, now where's my free trip?

Jennifer carried her team. Sure, Nate did the roadblock, but everyone else (aside from TK) had no problems with it, and Nate, without her help, would have been hopeless on the flag Detour. She was also right that they should have taken the fast-forward and guaranteed first place, so why didn't she speak up? Complaining that you disagree to the camera gets you nowhere. Nate may have been an idiot for not agreeing to do the Fast Forward, but you were an even bigger moron for not putting up more of a fight.

Ronald is still a jerk, however hard he may be trying to change. Rachel saying she has no respect for Ronald's behavior says everything I have been thinking all along. It would be great if there could be some twist where only he could be eliminated while everyone else, including Christina, got to stay in the race.

The Fast Forward was on par with the head-shaving tasks of the past, as it is something most people would balk at doing. In season 5, Brandon and Nicole refused to shave their heads, worried more about their modeling careers than about winning the race. They were eliminated. Nick and Don stepped up, and I would be happy if they won. They are underdogs, given Don's age, but they are nothing but nice to each other and the other teams.

The new "Speed Bump" twist sounds awesome, and it couldn't have come at a better time. I don't want the Goths to get eliminated.

Funniest moment of the night: TK telling Rachel they need to "jog." Has this team ever run? It frustrates how laid back they are, and If they keep this up, they won't be around much longer.

Yeah, the tattoo wasn't that big, but I think they did that intentionally. They knew people were going to balk at the idea of getting one, and that the actually difficulty in the task was sitting down and agreeing to get inked. To not torture them any more, they gave them a smaller tattoo that won't sorely stick-out, kind of an "we're already torturing them enough" mentality.

And yes, Nate does act like Tory. I hadn't noticed that until you mentioned it.

I have never been more excited to hear that it was a non-elimination round I just hope that the stupid father/daughter team don't come in last on the other non-elimination round... that would suck!!! But I do think this is the best season they have had in awhile!

Yeah, and even worse from a distance they looked like Nazi SS's. But, I think its pretty cool that it was the kid and the Grandpa that got the fast forward because sitting down and getting a tattoo with your Grandpa in Italy is pretty sweet regardless of what the Tattoo looks like. Now imagine if Nate & Jen got The fast forward, then we'd just be left with two idiots that hate eachother walking around with matching FF's on their arm.

The only thing that would have been better is that if it was 2 chubby people that won the fast forward.....Lets's see what does that FF mean...Fat F...

Finally caught up to this episode last night off the DVR. I was wondering about the non-elimination legs, it seems like this season has flown by and didn't know when/if they were having them or not. While I'm not thrilled by the prospect of The Goths sticking around, at least they're more tolerable than Chris/Ron and Nate/Jen. I haven't had this type of love-hate with one team (Chris/Ron) since a few years ago when they had the hot athletic girl with the amputated leg and her dickhead trainer/boyfriend. Man that guy drove me nuts.

So glad TK and Rachel didn't come in last, that friggin flat tire had my wife and I screaming at the tv for them to hurry it up. But like he said, "This'll be the fastest tire change in Amazing Race history". Glad he backed up that promise! They're my favorite team, then Nick and Don.

Dammit it's sad seeing the Goths go.

I thought they had a great chemistry with each other. They kept themselves positive, they didn't point fingers at each other. They even caught up to Nate & Jen (boy were their navigational skills piss poor, got lost plenty of times this current leg). But in the end, they botched it up on the U turn, having the Grandpa/Grandson duo up there instead of Nate/Jen & Kynt messed up on the receipt with the road block as well.

I thought Nate/Jen deserved to be eliminated much more than the Goths, but they didn't have to put up with the speed bump.

Looks like this season is wide open with no clear cut favorite team.

Once again there's basically no difference between finishing 2nd or the 2nd last team in a leg since the teams will be bunched up once the next leg starts. I know the producers need this to keep the race more entertaining but I wish there was a way to handicap the teams depending on what place they finish (outside of the last team to arrive on a non-elimination leg).
