Your favorite "Grunge rock" or "Seattle sound "bands

Those were some good days for music-Alice in Chains-Soundgarden-Nirvana-Pearl Jam-The Melvins-etc. I'm still into that sound and miss those days. List your favorite CD's and songs here,I'm looking for stuff that got passed by over the years, even off the wall (indie) bands that never really broke through.

Nirvana with a close second to Soundgarden.

BadMotorFinger is still my favorite album from the Grunge era.

My sister used to be a teller for Seafirst Bank back in the day and would occasionally help Chris Cornell and his wife (now ex).

One of my favorite picks is "Alice in Chains" their self titled album with the 3 legged dog on the cover(thanks for bringing them up again DXZeke) also, anyone here ever heard of the Melvins? I had one by them called "Houdini" good stuff there.

My wife just mentioned one of her favorites was the band "Temple of the dog". Hunger strike-was a great song, there were other good one's on that CD but I no longer have it so I can't name anymore off that one.

Of the big 4, for me it's:

              1) Soundgarden
              2) Alice In Chains
              3) Nirvana
              4) Pearl Jam

The gaps between 1, 2, and 3 are razor thin. Pearl Jam loss me after their second album, and thus became a "song here or there" band for me.

That whole album is a tribute to Andrew Wood by Chris Cornell and the former members of Mother Love Bone (Amant and Gossard then created Pearl Jam). Say Hello to Heaven is another great song off that album.

                  Paw -- "Dragline"
                  Paw -- "Death to Traitors"

Paw was a SUPERB grunge band from Lawrence, Kan., that had a short-lived national record deal with A&M during the mid-90s. I saw them live in a club here in Syracuse with about 50 other people -- great show. Check out those two albums if you get a chance.

Of the well-known Seattle or grunge bands, Soundgarden was my favorite. Riffs were heavy as hell, with a strong Zeppelin and Sabbath influence, and Chris Cornell's voice was pure gold.

                  Take care,
                  PK

A lot of people don't like these guys, but Primus had some blazin' music back in the day. Frizzle fry had some outrageous guitar and bass hooks that were hypnotic.

I really liked Pearl Jam back in the day. I still do.

Their first three albums were gold.

"10" pretty much was a templete for others to follow for quite some time.
