Ten, Badmotorfinger and Facelift are still great albums.

Still-no fans of the Melvins? they were different but had some good moments. I also noticed a long time ago in a interview,Kurt Cobain mentioned a band he liked alot called the Pixies, anyone have anything by them?

Yep, I have stuff by The Pixies. A VERY influential band for a lot of the grunge bands of the 90s.

Two great 80s bands that were big influences on the grunge bands were Husker Du and The Replacements.

          Take care,

P.S.: If anyone is curious, former Paw guitarist Grant Fitch has formed a new band in Lawrence called New Franklin Panthers. The band's MySpace site has four instrumental demo tracks with some crunchy, banging guitar by Fitch. Number Three especially rocks.

            Check it out!

Soundgarden would be the number one for me. Everything from Superunknown back are golden in my book - the big part about 'Garden to me were their sludgy, eastern-vibe riffs and they started getting away from that on Superunknown. Then of the course the Temple of the Dog album is an amazing album, my favorite album with Cornell on it hands down. I love the atmosphere that surrounds Pearl Jam's Ten - its something that cannot be forced or produced at will, but something that grows from the music as a whole. Alice in Chains is all about the harmonizing of the vocals for me, great, haunting stuff.

Other notables for me was the side-project Ben Shepherd and Matt Cameron had called ***** which released a self-titled album that is more garage-rock than any thing like the big four. When Shepherd left the band became Wellwater Conspiracy with The Scroll and Its Combinations being a great, Pink Floyd-esque rock album which features Ed Vedder on one track and Kim Thayil on two.

Mother Love Bone's self-titled compilation album is a must-own for anybody getting into the Seattle Sound from the late 80s/early 90s.

Alice is definitely #1 for me (Would? is my favorite song of all-time and Dirt my favorite album), but Pearl Jam is a very close second, mainly because I've seen them live several times and they only get better and better with time. Their latest album is one of their best. Mad Season (with Layne Staley and Mike McCready) would be #3 even though they only released one album, but it is one of my all-time favorites. Nirvana would be #4 and Soundgarden #5.

The Bleach Cd by Nirvana-that had some excellent tracks. Also,I haven't seen anyone mention The Stone Temple Pilots yet. I really enjoyed Core, was that the name of that one? I kinda lost em' after that.

Oh yeah, I loved Core and Purple. They started really sucking when they came out with that Sour girl crap though.
