NBC Developing Spinoff for The Office

NBC Developing Spinoff for The Office
This is Scrantonicity? Everybody Loves Daryl? Or...?

October 30, 2007 - Earlier this year IGN TV listed 10 spinoffs we've like to see, including one for The Office. Well, they might not be going with our concept for it, but as it turns out, NBC is indeed considering expanding Michael Scott's universe, according to TV Guide's Michael Ausiello.

According to the report, an upcoming episode of The Office will introduce several characters, with the plan to then have them star in their own series. This is a familiar tactic - The NCIS characters were introduced on JAG and Melrose Place began with the character Jake appearing on a few episodes of 90210. More recently Private Practice's characters were introduced on Grey's Anatomy.

Ausiello says that unlike Private Practice, which used a Grey's regular, Kate Walsh, to anchor the spinoff, no current Office regulars are expected to move to the new series. However, producers are seeking a name actor to star on the show.

This makes no sense whatsoever. The Office is just a rip-off of the the British show, The Office.

"Ausiello says that unlike Private Practice, which used a Grey's regular, Kate Walsh, to anchor the spinoff, no current Office regulars are expected to move to the new series. However, producers are seeking a name actor to star on the show."
So essentially they are making The Office 2, based off The Office(American), based off The Office(British).

I'm sure it could be funny. Or it could fail like many other spin offs.

Don't know how I feel about this. Then again I wasn't too happy about a spin-off being made off of Grey's Anatomy and I prefer Private Practice to Grey's these days so who knows?

As long as they don't take any characters from the original I don't really care. If it's funny then good, if not, no big deal. Just leave the current show cast as it is.

It's not a ripoff. It's made by the exact same guys.

I understand the love for the British version, which is funny, but why the need to bash the US version? Does it make you feel better inside? The British version isn't made or on TV anymore, the US one is. Just really don't get why fans of the British version constantly are bashing the US one. Didn't realize it was such a turf war.

I don't get that either... I think they are both funny. As far as the US version they couldn't have found a better person to play Micheal. Carrell has the idiot type cast on lock down.
