Laptop Suggestions

I'm going to be moving into an apartment with a couple friends in about a month and I don't have a computer to take with me so I'm looking to purchase a new one. I would prefer a laptop due to it'll take up less space and I can take it room to room with me.

I know basically nothing when it comes to laptops, is this even a good decision to buy one or would I be better suited to purchase a regular computer even though it'll take up more space, the room is big enough to hold a computer but I just think a laptop might work out better.

Anyway does anyone have any suggestions on a good laptop or a good desktop even if you think thats a better way to go?

I don't really have a set price range I can be flexible but I really just need something pretty basic, something that'll get me on the internet and hold my music collection.

It really depends on your price range, but if you need it for basics then I think these would work fine:

Refurbished Dell Laptops. I have one and it's great, I even run high process stuff and it handles it great. On that site I would set some filters though:

Min HD Space - 80, Model - Inspiron 1501 (doesn't have to be, but that's my recommendation), Min Memory - 1000, Video Card - 256, Click Filter and then click on price to see lowest to highest.

This is the one I got and it's great. You can pick what you think you'll need and even with almost all the highest choices it's still much cheaper than the Apples, and you can get a better computer.

I would also try CC Cardsfan. I dont how far you are from St Louis, but there is one on 70 about 10 miles from downtown that has some great out of box deals. I just bought my wife a Sony touchscreen laptop w. the ability to turn the top into a an electronic notepad. It was going for $1900 and we got it for $1100 w/ warranty and all manuals...just no box. They were asking $1300 and I just said I'll give you $1100 and he went back and said manager said ok..
