Funny you say that when 36 Chambers is listed as your best album of all time.

The Wu-Tang guys all grew up with each other and formed the group. Illmatic was a collection of great producers that got together for the album so I think that fits the free agent comparison more.

They knew each other before they got their deal. It wasn't like say the 4 horsemen group when established artist like Killah Priest, Kurrupt, Cannabis and Ras Kas formed a group. Thats basically how Illmatic was for production. Get the hottest producers out help this guy make a classic.

Well, in my opinion, it's his third best album. I think both Daily operation and Step in the arena are better.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see any lack of cohesion in either album. Illmatic is all of 9 tracks, and 36 is 11 tracks and a remix. The only cohesive problem I see is One Time for Your Mind, which just doesn't quite fit.

'Doggystyle' (Snoop), 'The Chronic' (Dre), & 'All Eyez On Me' (Pac) are the greatest as far as cultural relevance is concerned.

But my personal favorite album of all time would be 'PriestHood' by Killah Priest; with an honorable mention for 'E.1999/Eternal' by Bone Thugs~N~Harmony
