    Angels and Airwaves I-Empire

Hit the stores today, been 'out there' for a while. Anyone have it? Really enjoyed WDNTW and liking this one too.

Got it last week. I like it better, but it's still feeling 'eh' to me.

There arnt any bad songs, but they arnt amazing at the same time. I really like Lifeline, Rite of Spring, and Heaven, but the adventure and the war were pretty great songs

Yeah, that's the thing. You can listen to it straight through, but I can't think of any songs on the CD that make me say: "I want to go listen to this song".

Has Tom achieved world domination yet?

Im sure he thinks he has. In the album booklet he says they are the best band in the last 20 years.

I thought it said the last 18 months. Also, he states in one of the songs, I think Rite of Spring, that he "wakes each day and tells himself a little lie, that the world is his", or something like that. I think he's poking fun at himself here.

Got the CD yesterday and have gotten though it once. Its alright. I mean, I was a Blink fan, so nothing any of these guys does alone will stand up to that. There are some good songs on this disc though.

Rite of Spring stands out, because it seems as though the lyrics are more "Blink like" compared to the others, but I dont know. Good song either way.

I always like Tom's voice better than Mark's, but whatever the hell he's doing with his voice now with AVA is more annoying than anything. They sound like a U2 cover band, and for me thats not a good thing, because I cant stand U2.

I think rite of spring is really good because its a song without any metaphors like most of the lyrics. Just sings it like it is.

I like the U2 sound. I like this band better more than blink. Im really enjoying this the more i listen to it.

I think this band could be better than Blink, but something is missing.. I can't pinpoint it.

To me, the whole Blink/AA/+44 sound was best captured on Blinks' last album. That's a classic.

That was a good disc, but I'll always be partial to Take Off Your Pants And Jacket.

The thing I liked about Blink that I miss from the two new bands is the was Mark and Tom played off eachother, both musically and jokingly.

That said, I do enjoy both +44 and AVA, probably +44 more so because they seemed to keep more of the Blink sound, IMO.
