"pooped the vessel"... hahahahaha, awesome typo.

Honestly, that isn't vocal fry. That is just straight up bad for your voice. They don't really have a good technique for that, it's just pullin your throat back and screaming through it.

I don't know how the they do it, but When I saw Judas Priest back in the day, the singer screamed, "HELLLL-OOOOOOOOOOO Deeeeeeeee-Trooooiiittt.....Yeaaaaaahhhhh" and it was the last thing I heard except bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz rrrrrrrrzzzzzzzzzz the rest of the night, I thought that clown busted my ear drums. Damn that was loud.

Hahahahahhah. That was a falsetto metal-scream though, not what the TS is asking about.

And yes... classic Metal screams can be astonishingly loud. It's kind of a place in between your head-voice and falsetto... Very hard to get control over.

I thought the same thing as soon as I read this thread's title. Daltrey was the KING of rock screamers, although Plant could wail, too.

I think David Lee Roth has a unique scream. It sounds like more than one person screaming when he does it...eery sounding

They have strong lungs and some are studio made. They can't do that live, at least some can't. The guy from Iron Maiden and George T. Have awesome voices live though. So did Bach from Skid Row. Axel was good live, but better in the studio,. His range seem higher.
