    Best Sports Movies

I'm sure this topic has been discussed before, but so far as I know, not recently, so let's give it a go.

Bull Durham is on AMC right now. I have to think this is in my top ten, if not top five.

    So, let's see:

    1. Rudy. Nothing quite like those moments of overcoming tremendous adversity. There's at least three moments in this film that are genuine tear-jerkers in this relation.

    2. Major League. "Well, you may run like Mays, but you hit like ....". Not to mention, when Hayes slides into home, it's a truly great sports movie moment.

    3. Rocky. For nostalgic/childhood reasons, I'm more fond of III and IV, but the original is clearly the best by more objective, historical standards.

    4. Field of Dreams. More an actual movie with a sports twist than a sports movie. Still, any male who doesn't choke up at the end isn't human.

    5. Yeah, I think I'm going Bull Durham here. Funny, dramatic, realistic: a classic flick.

Rudy used to do it to me, until I met the guy. Ruined the whole movie.

You're actually the second person to say something like that to me. This chick I used to work with, who had certain football connections (something like her brother was an assistant coach at Penn State or something), mentioned to me that Rudy was actually a douche, and everyone hated him.

          I REFUSE TO LISTEN!!

The original Bad News Bears is hands down the best sports movie. Then Hoosiers.

Man i've done this over and over and over. So I'll mention a couple of great old boxing movies that I think you guys should search for

Champion: The movie that essentially made Kirk Douglas a star. It's about a guy who accidentally gets into the boxing game and eventually becomes a pompous *** about it.

The Harder They Fall: Humphrey Bogart's last movie. It's more about fixing fights and such. It's pretty interesting stuff for the time period.

Fat City: This was a VERY gritty and great movie about a down and out boxer who tries to get back into the fight game. It's not so much about the boxing as it is about the affects that boxing can have on someone's life. It's probably the best thing Stacy Keach ever did.
