Would this laptop be any good for today's gaming?

Dell is running a special...can you tell me if this laptop will run today's pc games, or where it may be lacking?

Better Deal — Vostro 1000 Notebook
Now with 6-cell battery and Windows Vista® Home Premium

    AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 Dual-Core processor TK-53 (1.7GHz/512KB)
1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHZ, 2 Dimm
15.4 inch Wide Screen XGA LCD Anti-Glare Display
    120GB1 5400RPM Hard Drive
    8X DVD+/-RW2 w/Double-layer DVD+R Write Capability, for Vista® OS
    ATI Radeon® Xpress 1150 256MB HyperMemory™ (integrated)

    Thanks for any advice!

I have a hot rodded AMD 3000+ with tons of RAM and a good enough video card(want something better though)-my processor checks in at 2.17GHz-It chugs on the new stuff-especially the good ones that I like(of course)Question:what kind of games do you mean? like an RTS or FPS? if so, I'd read on......
If you look at specs for the newer games, they are asking for processing speeds (minimum)right around mine or higher. Plus, looking down the road to next year,it would appear that you will have somewhat of a dinosaur. I like Athlons for gaming-that 64 your'e looking at would run stuff from last year and some from earlier this year alright, but I'd really consider a better processor that can keep up with the new stuff-which is only going to raise the bar-processorwise. And graphic cards that support bloom effect and 512MB of RAM are becoming the standard. Anyway-next time you see a new game you like,do a Google search on game specs for it-NOT the minimum-but the reccomended specs-you'll be surprised the crap they want under the hood of your rig.

Thanks...appreciate it. The price caught my eye, but I guess you get what you pay for. From what I have seen, it looks like you have to drop between $1000 - $3000 for a laptop that will stay "current" for more than a year...

A separate video card always is better than integrated VRAM, especially on a machine with only 1 GB of RAM.

The features list didn't indicate whether this machine was Vista or XP. But Vista runs like crap on any machine with less than 2 GB of RAM.
