Earl Sesame St. deemed not for kids

    http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/18/ma...-medium-t.html

I blame Elmo. A whole generation raised on Ernie, Kermit, Oscar & my first crush, Maria, & now they are considered PG-13.

It seems weird but I'm not entirely surprised.

I'm sure the images and things that were being talked about back in 1968 would be far too visual and effective for today's protective society.

Re: Earl Sesame St. deemed not for kids

I've seen some early Sesame Street clips on youtube and I can see how SOME of the stuff may not be for kids but overall it was fresh, innovative and a great way to teach ABCs and such to kids.

Hell i'd buy the vintage Sesame Street DVDs if I had a kid. OK, who am I kidding? I'd buy it for myself mostly. The material is still brilliant to this very day unlike the anti-septic cute and cuddly PC crap we see today on the Street.

I know you're making a joke but I had to quote this to make an argument.

This is the kind of stuff that drives me crazy. When I was a kid I didn't think, "Man, Big Bird must be on drugs because that elephant sure doesn't look like one. Only someone on drugs could have thought that sh*t up."

I was thinking, "Oh, yay, Big Bird and his friend are back!"

I actually remember when the rest of Sesame Street didn't know that Snuffy was real, more like Big Bird's imaginary friend... And I agree, Maria was HAWT.

There was one clip I saw on youtube of the ending credits or maybe the beginning (can't remember for sure and I think the clip is gone anyways) of the Sesame Street gang going/leaving Hawaii and there was a shot that really showed off Maria's butt.

Holy Fancy Moses! She had a helluva latin booty brother! It helped tremendously that she was wearing tight faded blue jeans.

Man you're bringing back memories. I think Maria is the reason why I dig latin chicks to this day.

                        but back OT....

This PC world has gotten out of hand. We need to trust parents to help kids w/what's real & what's fantasy. Trying to create this perfect safe world is what's unrealistic. All of us raised on this show & they want to act like they put us in danger.

Agreed. All these parents are trying to raise these kids like they are in a perfect little world. Wait till the kids get older.
