When protecting your family or yourself. That is probably the only time I would ever break the law...if my family or myself was in danger and it required me to do something.

I think, and this is a view shared by many throughout history, that when a law is unjust and you completely morally disagree with it, that it is OK to break that law. I wouldn't go as far as to do blatantly do things to get arrested for them like famous people throughout the past have done, but usually that's the only way to get people to notice how dumb some laws are and start action to have them changed.

LOL That's exactly what I was thinking.

Seriously, the speeding one is a good one. Then you can also add frivolous laws like this one in New York:

A person may not walk around on Sundays with an ice cream cone in his/her pocket.

Breaking the Law is never acceptable, but you have to see what are the consequences . If they are life and death, some times you have to break the Law, but you also have to take the responbility of breaking that law.

Let's not be too naive here Scott. I echo JazzyJ's sentiment that some laws are pretty much unjust. I mean if you had made this statement in the 1950s you'd be advocating the continuation of Jim Crow in the south. Fortunately for us there isn't really any truly unjust law in the books right now. Some could make the argument that some laws against homosexual marriage may be unjust but it isn't such a widespread problem and it's become more of a "wedge" issue in politics rather then a true blue social cause.

The only other time i'd break the law is if my family is in danger or I feel that the law failed me. An example would be a murder trial against someone that killed a family member and the guy gets off on a technicality....Well I wouldn't sit idly by and let the guy live a peaceful life that's for sure.

Sure that is bad law, but it is still a Law, therefore should not be broken. I would break it though, but I still have to take the responsibility. It is what it is.
