Problem downgrading from Vista to XP

OK, so I have my g/f's laptop. I installed XP (after completely removing Vista), but althought the keys and touchpad works, the sound buttons and shortcuts dont work.

Also, the resolution sucks and I cant make it any better. And the sound doesnt work. It friggin sucks. Oh ya.. doesnt let me acces the wireless net I have either.

    BTW... its a Lenovo 3000 N100

Go to the website or CD that came with the computer. Sounds like you need to install the drivers for those things.

Here... I looked it up for you. Look at this list for the different components you are missing.

lol, I just saw the mac commercial talking about how people are downgrading to XP. I was gonna look into getting vista when I get a new computer, but I didn't really see it was that bad.

jeesh, i just made a thead not seeing this....basically the same thing but moreso wondering if i can just reformat vista back to xp once i get a new laptop..

i'm guessing you didnt just put a xp cd in and reformat? It's more complicated than that?

Well since you bought pre-packaged laptops, that's pretty much what you have to expect.

You need to make sure you know all the hardware and go download the drivers from another computer to install them all.

And going from Vista to XP is an Upgrade, not a downgrade.

It really isn't that bad. As mentioned, just go to the manufacturer's support website, enter your model/serial/whatever ID tag they use and download the appropriate XP-related drivers (audio/video/network/etc). After installing XP it's just a matter of running those downloaded driver packages. They install themselves, most you have to do is click next a couple of times and reboot.

If they won't install then you either don't have the XP version of the driver, or you're trying to install a driver that doesn't match the hardware.
