I saw a screening of the film.
daneil day lewis gives sucha good performance that he should take the last 3 years worth of oscars as well from people...Brand New Tomba Slider sets ready for Next Gen Versions of NBA,Madden and Fifa Stay Tuned...Comment

Bump.
I just saw this last night and I thought it was a great film. It dragged at some parts, but DDL was completely amazing as Daniel Plainview and since 98% of the scenes had him in it, I think it was a great film. The whole thing was crazy - literally. With the exception of a couple of the main characters, it seemed like everybody was completely insane, DDL especially. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing DDL take everybody to school and the ending with Eli was superb.

Great movie. My impression is still that the best movie won the Oscar, but the best actor won as well. Daniel Day-Lewis' performance is jaw-dropping, and the finale was incredible. I felt like despite it being based on an older book (Oil! by Upton Sinclair) the themes spoke loudly of today's world.Listen to some of my covers:

I can't believe I never posted in this thread.
Great movie, Daniel Day-Lewis did a great job and the story and underlying theme was fantastic. I was really proud that P.T. Anderson put something out as quality as this.. he's the nextdoor neighbor of one of my really good friends.Comment

No, I never sympathized with Plainview at all. Yes, he did work really hard for his oil dynasty, but the man was Satan himself in my eyes. I loved his character, though, no matter how evil he was but I never felt sorry for him.

only to have the boy he's teaching his craft to become deaf, then have a false-prophet try to extort/destroy him and a loner impersonate his brother. I know he wasn't the greatest person of all time, but goodness, he went through a ****-load of hardship. I can imagine I'd be pretty pissed off at the world too (money does not = happiness).
