Before the Devil Knows You're Dead

Huge shocker for me.. rated an 88% on RT with a lot of reviews; yet I absolutely found no redeeming qualities about the film. Seemed a little too soap-opraish to me. It had some layers to it, yet felt so cheap and simple. I'm still shocked at how much I didn't appreciate any elements about it when apparently so many critics did. I'll still take my chances with RT.

I saw that this had high reviews on RT but couldn't shake that I hadn't heard of the movie until I scoured the RT site.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Well it was directed by Sidney Lumet (who did Serpico and Dog Day Afternoon...both great movies) so that should tell you something. I'll wait for it to come out on DVD to watch it though.

I saw it this weekend. I liked it mostly for the performances, especially Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Marisa Tomei was pretty good too.

Yeah, definitely a plus. She's a hottie. Had no idea she is dating Vito of WWE and WCW fame though.

She'd be mine if she wasn't only into short, stocky, quirky, bald men.
