Between this and Colin Cowherd's recent comments, ESPN's PR department needs to hold a little media relations meeting with some of their talking heads. IMO.

Re: Screamin' A. Smith, can he get any worse?

Bill Conlin in the Philadelphia press recently expressed some similar comments about the blogosphere. These arrogant jackholes have grown fat and happy being the only voice you hear when it comes to breaking down the news, and their sense of self-importance is astounding. But more than anything, they feel threatened by the blogosphere because they recognize that their time of being the "ultimate deciders" whose opinion is the only one that matters is at an end. And in that sense, they are dinosaur relics of a bygone era. Scared, sad dinosaurs.

Additionally, the fact that he'd mention ethics and integrity is laughable. One of the major reasons for the existence of the political blogosphere, for instance, is to call the MSM on the carpet for all the outright lies, spin and agenda-based "news" they disseminate on a daily basis.

The arrogance of the old school print media is just another reason to want to stick it to them by cancelling your newspaper and relying on internet "amateurs" for your news.

        To answer title question: No.

On the positive side though it means he has a lot of room to grow.

to be honest, I've always disliked Stephen A. but surprisingly, I enjoy his radio show. I download his podcast everyday because he's on the same time as one my favorite local shows. I like him as a radio guy.

Same here... I first caught his radio act a few years ago in NY, when he filled in for a vacationing Michael Kay on 1050 ESPN... He was so different from the angry, screaming lunatic that I had grown accustomed to on TV.

I think he was saying that Smith was calm on the radio...

                        Or so I thought.

I agree. I don't mind his radio show at all. I only get an hour of it though.

Vitale is as loud, but you can accredit that to him being senile or over homeristic about college players.

Did you see the NBA draft when the two of them were arguing on live air a couple of years back?

Most hilarious thing i've seen on tv in a long time.
