While it's a cool-looking phone and has tons of features, this thing absolutely sucks. I have grown increasingly frustrated with this on two accounts; A) The battery life is the worst I've ever seen on a phone. I have to charge at least once, sometimes twice, per day. B) The reception is brutal. I'll be standing next to another person with a Sprint cell phone, they'll have three bars of service and I'll have zero or be searching. I can literally be standing in the same spot and have my phone go from three bars to searching. I think A ties in with B, but it's still unacceptable.
So a gentleman I work with brought in the 2008 Consumer Report guide today. I flipped to the cell phone section which ranked the top 8-10 phones for all the major providers (Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, etc) and this phone was ranked the worst of all the phones listed! It listed the talk-time on my phone as two hours and fifteen minutes!
I always do research before purchasing any electronics so I was a bit puzzled. I went back and looked at various reliable online sources (cnet, etc) and all had ranked the M610 as an above-average phone. I figured maybe since I had bought the phone when it initially came out the reviews would have changed over the last nine months, but I guess not.
So tomorrow I plan on going down to a Sprint store, tell them my story and ask them what they can do for me. I'm hoping I'll be able to get another phone straight up, without cost, but we'll see. I'm going to play the, "This is my business phone, I need my phone to work at all times" angle since it is true. It is also a business account so hopefully they'll be more lenient when helping me.
Has anyone had any luck with this?
