Time Warner Cable HD-DVR

For those of you that have TWC with the HD-DVR, have you been having issues lately with it locking up on you when you go to watch a recorded show? For the last week it's been doing it to me but nobody in tech support seems to know, or at least wants to tell me why it is.


I looked around online for other people having the same issue and found some threads from back in January or so, where TWC did an update, and it caused this same issue. Anybody else seeing this or know how to fix it?

I have Time Warner and i got a new HD DVR box for upstairs. A tech person came out and i asked him why the hell does it lag and freeze up. Well i guess Time Warner decided to change stuff on the box and mess with it and now they are gettin calls out the rear about them. He said there is no way to fix them, he did say to try and get an older one because they don`t have the problems the new ones do. My one downstairs works great and that`s because it is an older one. SO Time Warner just F`d up and won`t tell people.

Can you take it back to TWC and get a new box?

I took my old HD box back, free of charge, for a new HD-DVR box. I only had to pay the extra 6.75 a month for the DVR services.

You're talking about the 8300HD compared to the new smaller one right? Yeah, I've got one of those and it's doing the same thing. The old one is a year or two old, and the new one is from January or so.

SO Time Warner just F`d up and won`t tell people.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. Can't say I'm surprised.

I can, but I'm not entirely certain it's the box. I've got two and both of them just started doing it earlier this week. Assuming it stops icing at some point, I'll take them back when I get a chance. Tech support sure doesn't help.

Here is what I do when the box starts acting funky... On the box itself! You press left, right, and info at the same time. That resets the box. Once it goes through the bootup sequence it is usually good to go without any issues.

You should post what model as there are many different brands of cable boxes out there.

I don't know what it is, but my box is always getting new information DL'ed to it. That's pretty much a given but the annoying part about it is it causes the box to cycle through the start up when it's not on... I can see it on the front LED.

To make matters worse, I always have to "Please wait..." around 7 pm every night so I can get the newest guide info... it's pretty damn annoying and wasn't this way until an update about 4 weeks ago.

That is the reset code for ALL Scientific Atlanta DVR boxes, and that is the only brand TWC uses... to my knowledge.

I have the Explorer 8000HD

They are distributing Samsung boxes as well... I had one initially.
