Haven't seen it but I'm very interested in checking it out.

I'm not going to get into the overreaction of religion in this film because that's against TOS.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

I'm actually very tempted to see this. Mainly because Daniel Craig is a great actor and it looks like it has some form of potential.

I was going to go see it until I found out it was a movie that is so anti-God. I'm by no means a heavy duty Christian but this agenda is not one that I care to put my money toward. I'll catch it on DVD probably at some point.

Thats the problem. Its not "anti-god". What has happened is the novel was written by an atheist. The producers of the movie, fearing a backlash, toned down the religion in the movie to the point of diluting the product. Every review I have heard so far says that it is visually beautiful, but the script is so blah because it doesn't want to upset anyone. (Which it did anyways).

Most of the "leaders" that are calling on boycotts haven't even seen the movie.

I'd rather read the books. I won't go into why (needless to say i'm not anti-God)

It's hilarious that the people who complain about things being "PC" are complaining about this movie. Anyway, the series was great and I'm probably going to see it soon.

Well I for one am not complaining about it, people can make movies about whatever they want, however I don't have to support their agenda either. I think that is basically what most people are saying, save those who are calling for a boycott. And even in defense of those people, that is their right to inform people and let them decide for themselves.

I for one have always maintained that stance, even while on the other side of the arguement. For instance, I very strongly disagree with the idiot Jack Thompson about violent videogames and his constant calls for banning games and boycott, but I also support his right to believe what he wants to as well.

That is to bad I will still see it. Its unfortunate people tend to freak out about things like this. After all it is art. See it or don't see it. What happend to freedom of speech. Original thoughts are rare now these days especially when it comes to movies on the big screen. An artist shouldn't have to suppress a thought or vision. My 2 cents. Hope to see this film sometime this week.

                            Valid points

Remember, Dante's Inferno was once banned by the church and it's now considered a literary classic.

Ok, I have seen this type of thing many times in debates on issues like this. Where is anyone saying that this movie should be banned? There is a huge difference between asking for a boycott and asking for a ban. Folks who disagree with it's message and are asking for a boycott are not violating free speech, they are practicing free speech.

If I choose not to go see it due to not agreeing with some aspect of it, that is my right. Also, I might add, by me not seeing it for whatever reason i'm not violating anyone's free speech. Once again, people have a right to put whatever message they want in a movie, music, game or whatever, but I also have a right to choose not to spend my hard earned cash on it and/or badmouth said movie, music or game if I so desire.
