    One Less Reason

Has anyone ever heard these guys? Wow. Someone I know linked me to their myspace last night. The singer has an awesome voice. They make some really beautiful rock music. Sort of in the vein of Lifehouse.

The songs A Lifetime Burning and A Day To Be Alone REALLY stick out. I don't care much for the first song, The Same Thing... But the rest of them are awesome melodic rock songs.

Yeah, I've listened to these guys quite a bit for the past few months. I'd have to say my favorite song by them might be "77" but I really like a lot of their stuff. I'm looking forward to hearing the whole new CD

            Really feeling "A lifetime burning."

It's the only song I've listened to so far, but I like it.

                  Re: One Less Reason

I got their "A Lifetime Burning" album for Christmas (upon wishing for it), and I love it so much! The band really has a distinct route that they are going with their music. If I had a gripe, it would be that the lead singer would sound much better if he didn't go with the rough voice. Sometimes he doesn't, and it sounds great.

There are 15 tracks, and it seems that two or three of them are live (well, not studio-recorded and touched up, at least). I'm just going to have to nitpick here... whoever wrote the CD information had two spelling errors: the song "Pieces of Me" is titled "Peices of Me" when you import it, and the same goes with the song "Your Beautiful Ending" being spelled "You're Beautiful Ending." Okay, end rant.

Santa said he could only find this easily for purchase at CD Baby, but then again he's not much of an eBay shopper when it comes to my household. I'd recommend that you guys look into this album (you can preview the songs at that site) if you got a good taste of what they have to offer, they really are great!

                    Re: One Less Reason

I wanted to bump this thread, because they just came out with a new CD on Tuesday called Faces and Four Letter Words, and I just got the CD today through pre-order, which specially came with two bonus tracks and the band's autographs.

I have gone through 30 second previews of all of the songs and I am running on the sixth track. So far compared to A Lifetime Burning, it is a lot harder. The guitars are coming out and Cris Brown, the lead singer, is sticking to the rough voice sound. Not my preference, but they still have a good working formula, sticking to a theme in their album and not running off-course. I'll have to give it an entire listen to grade it, but I think it's going to be tough for this to surpass A Lifetime Burning. So far my favorite song on it is Seasons, which was an older song not put on an album until now, which was probably their basis for the rest of the songs.

I do recommend you give these guys a listen. They are on MySpace, Facebook, and iTunes. I would not have known about them if it wasn't for this thread.

EDIT: Well, I'd say the CD comparatively underwhelmed me and was more generic than their preceding album, but I think you'll end up appreciating this one more if you listen to A Lifetime Burning first. I never actually gave their first album a full listen, but I think it's kind of more rock-like like this one is.

                      Re: One Less Reason

After giving this album about six play-throughs last night, this is my favorite song in the album so far:

                      <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xGUhnGOoBfo?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xGUhnGOoBfo?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

                      I also really enjoy:

                      - Someday
                      - No You, No Me
                      - Seasons
                      - Ghost

Right now I am iffy on how much I enjoy Love Song and The Distance, but I feel like there is greatness in them I haven't yet tapped.

                        Re: One Less Reason

I'm still a big fan of this band, by the way.

Two years ago they released a six-song album called A Blueprint for Writhing. There was really only one song I didn't much care for, but the rest have something that's very nice in all of them.

Then they released an album with live, acoustic, and re-recorded tracks of their previous songs, maybe a cover or two as well. It's called "She Said I Wonder When..." and had 27 different tracks.

About a week ago I found out they released an album in 2011 under a different band name because it "didn't match the OLR sound," even though it's just fine to me. They proclaim themselves as Jassepy Moses & the Vagytarians and their album was called 97 to Now.

I'll pick out some nice ones, whether they're super mainstream, super unique, or super memorable or what have you. See if there's anything in the crowd you like.

                          Re: One Less Reason

I really have to thank eXperiment63 for introducing me to this band.

Anyway, they're coming out with a new album on August 19th called The Memories Uninvited. If you pre-order it on iTunes, you can download three of the eleven tracks right now (Where Were You, The Trade, and The Lie). Then they have a lyric video for Where Were You, as well as a YouTube video for another song Break Me. The best I can get for you for The Lie is an old teaser clip (see the third video). Nothing yet on The Trade, which just became downloadable for me on iTunes today with the pre-order.

(above is the "radio version," a bit shorter and edited out the screams... the album version is here)

                          <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/l7BQ-UiQqLY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

So far, Break Me and The Lie have me sold. I like the meaning behind the song Where Were You. The Trade sounds a bit too radio-friendly, but it isn't a dud either.

Support these guys all that you can! Feel free to explore what I've posted in this thread as well.

                            Re: One Less Reason

Album is out, have given it a few playthroughs. Overall there are only a couple of songs that I don't like, mostly because of their arrangements. Lyrically they are solid. However, there aren't many songs that I would claim above The Lie and Break Me.

I am disappointed in the sound mix, though. Maybe it's just raw and I have to wait until I hear it at home, but in my car it sounds very muddled, even compared to some of their other stuff. It's like it's clipped or compressed or something, I'm not sure. This really does bring the album down a whole notch, and that's too bad.

I wish they did more with their final track. I feel like the chorus would have been a good pre-chorus with another deliverance for a chorus. Otherwise, it sounds pretty good. Sadly though, it ends with Cris Brown saying: "That's a wrap. First song I ever wrote, last song I'll ever record."

I'll miss hearing new material from them.
