What are they going to do, write him a check?

Unfortunately, there is no compensation for spending 24 years in prison for a crime you didn't commit.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Give him a nice big check, make sure he doesn't have to pay taxes for, at least 24 years, and call it "even."

As YP said, though, there is no compensation for losing 24 years of your life.

Man, I'm 25. I don't know how I would deal with being in jail for the entire time I've been alive.

For some people on this board, that's longer than you've been living.

I know there's people out there that are all like, "Yea, man, if I was in jail I'd have crazy street cred. I need that in my life, son."

          I'd cry like a b*tch.

Yeah, I can't imagine doing 25 years in jail. Hell, I can't even imagine doing one day.

Give him a check, thank him for being a good sport, and give him a pat on the shoulder on the way out?

I just picture a dude going, "... Well, um... seems like we made a mistake. Good day, ol' chum," with a pat on the back and the dude is given $20 and the classifieds.
