    Wahl's break too much.

Try any kind of Andis and/or Conair clippers. Loosen the two top screws and pull the top blade back and much as you can, then tighten them back.

That should do you guys just fine.

The thing is, I don't know the first thing about finding some good affordable clippers that will do a good job of cutting our hair. Any suggestions?
        I own this:

It's pretty good, but the razor needs adjusting every once in a while. The pieces themselves are somewhat cheap, but they work just fine. Sometimes it's hard to get a grasp of what size you actually want when looking at hem, so try biggest and go smaller. You can also fine-tune the razor. Say you don't have anything on it, the closest it can get is 1/32. If you adjust it to the longest length, it can get to 1/8. I hope that makes sense.

One other gripe is it's hard to fit everything back in the case once you reorder stuff, but maybe that's just me.

        I recommend it.

We have this barber shop down the street (black-owned), the guy has this sign saying he "cuts all races". I should just ask him what he uses.
well maybe "big" difference was a stretch........but involves more scissor work right? im not that good at that

Well, it depends. I CAN use scissors to cut the top of my head, but haven't in a long time. I've been getting my hair cut using just clippers for probably a year now. I just realized that it is much quicker and looks cleaner to have my hair clipper cut, so no scissor work is involved. Put it like this, I know there's a big difference (me and my roommate joke about it a lot) , but in the end I'd trust you to give me a fade, and I'm sure I'd come out looking good.

It seems like Andis and Conair's are getting the biggest recommendation here. Blzer, that set looks nice and affordable, but a lot of people say that company has a rep for breaking. Have you had any problems?

Dre, I'm not much of a barber. What does loosening the screws and pulling the blade back do? I'm looking at the set we currently own, and see what you are saying. I just don't know what it does.

Like I said, the pieces are weak, and the razor needs adjusting at times. The pieces attach on in a way that they can't get too loose or flimsy, otherwise they would probably just detach. My smallest piece (I believe it's red) is almost too stretched and "big" at the spot to attach, and I have to be very careful when cutting so it doesn't just come off.

Also, the motor sometimes sounds louder than normal and such, so I just unscrew it and clean it out. A lot of my friends use it in my dorm too, so I just try and clean it out every time. It's tedious, but it's better than a $15 haircut. If you're at all confused with this kind of stuff, it comes with a rather extensive guide on everything about what's included and how to take care of it.

I haven't tried the other ones, so I can't support or make any claims against them. They're probably better; this is just my advice on what I personally own.

When I was in high school me and some of my boys were just kickin it in Westwood, walking down the street, when we passed a Super Cuts and one of my boys yelled into the shop, "DO YOU GUYS CUT N*GGA HAIR?" Remembering the shocked looks, and stunned silence, still makes me laugh uncontrollably 20+ years later.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.
