I was watching an old WWE DVD which brought up both Hogan and Tyson and I found myself wondering, who is actually more famous, Mike Tyson or Hulk Hogan? I then thought of this idea for a thread, to debate such trivial issues of fame and celebrity. So who you got, Iron Mike or the Hulkster?

Re: Who's More Famous?
I think Tyson is more INfamous but Hogan is the most famous especially to those who grew up watching wrestling in the '80s. Hell, even my father who didn't like wrestling knows all about the Hulkster!Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Who's More Famous?
That's a tough one...
lets look at some of the stats
Hulk Hogan
* WWF (Real American) and WCW (Hollywood/NWO) icon
* A slew of utterly crappy movies (sans Rocky III) and TV appearences
* Two reality TV shows
* Hulkamania
* A famous daughter
* A CD called Hulk Rules
Mike Tyson
* Boxing Icon
* Youngest Heavyweight Champion ever
* Mike Tyson's Punchout
* Rape Trial/ Prision
* Face tattoo
* Holyfield's Ear
* Stint in the WWF as a member of D-X
* Many cameo appearances in TV, movies and music videos
I think because Hogan is still in the limelight making appearances, I gotta give it to him by a hair.Comment

Re: Who's More Famous?
Both posed comebacks in the 2000s, but had opposite results.
Tyson's comeback blew up in his face, losing/quitting fights, going broke, and getting locked up.
Hogan's comeback had him blow back up into the limelight, getting part of his wrestling fanbase back, a TV show, and a solidifed lineage after (arguably) screwing it up with the late WCW years.
Before that? I'm not sure. Both were extremely popular at various times. I'll say Tyson.D E S E R V E_V I C T O R YR.I.P. Sean Taylor (1983-2007), a True CaneComment

Re: Who's More Famous?
If you're under 20 years old or so maybe Tyson but Hogan ruled the 80's. He's the posterboy for professional wrestling which has way for fans than boxing.Comment
