Right now on Discovery-Times (channel 285 on DirectTv) they have several 1 hour programs dedicated to video games, right now I guess their at the beginning as they are discussing pong and atari, but its on all night and gets up to today current videogames and systems. Just if anyone is interested.Tags: None -

Awesome!"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Rise of the Videogame....
I've watched some of this series, and really enjoy it. It makes me look back at things like Super Mario and really appreciate it more. For me, I was 6 when the SNES came out and we got Super Mario World and Super Mario All Stars (Super Mario Bros, #2, #3). I guess I just took some things as a given as to how video games had always been. I had seen things like Pong before, but didn't really understand all the stuff leading up to the stuff that evolved into the Super Nintendo, and the battle between Sega and Nintendo with the Genesis.Comment

Re: Rise of the Videogame....
I've caught 2 - 5 and have enjoyed them. Anyone know how many there are? It seems like 5 might have been the last one.
Seeing some of those old games really makes me appreciate how far the new games have come. I'm 33, so I had the Atari 2600, Commodore 64, etc. so have seen first-hand how far games have come. I kind of take these games for granted nowadays, but it is pretty impressive how in such a short span of time we've gone from Donkey Kong and Asteroids to Mass Effect.Last edited by born_bad; 12-22-2007, 12:29 PM.Comment
