Glenn Danzig and the Power and Fury Orchestra - "You and Me (Less than Zero)" -a really cool blend of rock and r&b from a guy better known for devil-locks and "Mother"
Johnny Cash - "Hurt" - a shining example that a song need not be complicated to be powerful.
Bob Dylan - "Like a Rolling Stone" - rock's all-time best storyteller.
Opeth - "The Drapery Falls" - a band as unique as Opeth should be heard at least once, even if many won't be able to get past some of the vocals.
Queen - "Bohemian Rhapsody" - even if pretty much everyone has heard it, it doesn't change the fact that everyone needs to hear it.
Stratovarius - "Dream With Me" - power ballads usually get laughed at, but this one is really, really good. I think most people that hear it will like, too bad not many have or will.
Stabbing Westward - "Waking Up Beside You" - I've always felt this song had just wonderful imagery and managed to capture the whole "my girlfriend left me" feeling in a mature and somber way without sounding juvenile or corny (like 95% of the rest of Stabbing Westward's songs).
U2 - "In the Name of Love" - a soaring song from a strong group of musicians.
Iron Maiden - "For the Greater Good of God" - a song that will always be topical and powerful so long as foolish persons are willing to unjustly kill in the name of a higher power.
