    BB Total Access "slight increase"

Well, knew this was coming eventually:

To continue to bring you the unmatched convenience of both online and in-store DVD rentals, your monthly subscription fee will change slightly from $14.99 to $16.99. This adjustment† will go into effect on your next billing cycle on or after December 27, 2007. The benefits of your subscription plan will remain the same...and it's a value of $29.99!

How in the hell is a 20% jump a slight increase? Time to shop around.....

It's not, but most people don't look at percentages, they look at the amount.

I've been on the 1 out at a time for $9.99 and it went up to $11.99. I still think it's a great deal with unlimited exchanges in the store and am fine with the $2 increase.

Yeah, I got that email about a week and a half ago. My plan was going to go up from $16.99/month to $23.99! And that plan had less features than my plan did when I first signed up for Total Access, and costed more! I originally had a $14.99/month plan which was:

2 movies out at time, unlimited in-store exchanges, and one coupon for a free game/movie rental per month. Then they changed their plans and in order to keep the unlimited in-store exchanges (I loved those), I had to "downgrade" my plan to 1 movie out at a time, which raised my price to $16.99/month! And they got rid of the game/movie coupon for all their plans!

So when I got this most recent email, that was the last straw. I cancelled my Total Access and went to Netflix. $16.99/month for 3 movies out a time. Go Netflix!

How did you get that? They were making me pay $16.99/month for 1 out at a time with unlimited exchanges...

As long as you don't change your plan, you keep the terms of the old plan, they just may change the price. I still get 1 coupon a month for a game/movie and unlimited rentals since I've had the same plan for a long time.

Not here. We didn't change plans and they just stopped sending us the coupon. We were on the higher up deals so with one movie they can give you more stuff. We eventually switched though, went from 3 and unlimited rentals in store and a coupon, to 2 dvds and only 3 instore exchanges a month with no coupon.

I had to e-mail 3 times to get them to add my coupon back but they finally got it resolved for me.

Since you switched they probably won't for you now.

Hmm, haven't seen this. My plan is still:

                  BLOCKBUSTER Total Access Premium
                  $19.99 / month (plus taxes)
                  3 at-a-time, unlimited mailings
                  unlimited in-store movie exchanges
+1 FREE bonus Movie or Game Rental E-Coupon / Month
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer
