If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: The Wire-Season 5
My impressions of episode 1 *SPOILERS if the tags don't work*:
Spoiler
1. I don't really like the newspaper angle. If there's one complaint I have about the show, it's that it's a repeat viewing show. Since the writers don't simply come out and say "hey, this is *character*, he's a bad guy" it makes it hard to fully follow the story the first time around in every season. At this point, I don't think there's been a single name given for anyone in that storyline.
2. Marlo is about to undergo the Stringer and Bodie effect, where you go from hating the character to being somewhat upset by their demise. I'm ready for Marlo and Chris to end Prop Joe's fat ***.
3. On a related note, did Prop Joe, Carcetti, and Dukie suddenly become much less likable, while Marlo and Chris are root-for-able?
4. Seriously, who the **** is Spider? I swear he was one of the boxing kids in season 3, a tall high schooler in season 4, and now he's 25 years old with mini-dreads? This can't be the same dude.
5. What happened with Chris and Snoop's gun charge? They mention it briefly, but it's a 5 year minimum in Baltimore.

Re: The Wire-Season 5
Good episode, like always seems like it ends too soon. Good opener.
SpoilerIRT to some of The Soldier's comments:
1. That one complaint you have is one of the reasons I praise the show: character development. I like the fact that the writers don't say "Ok, here's the deal. This is X and he's a bad guy." The characters develop over the season and like you said, it promotes repeated viewing. That's a good thing to me. That said, I am very interested in the newspaper angle and look forward to the season.
2. I know what you mean, but I liked Marlo's character from the jump. I like Prop Joe too and have enjoyed the back and forth between the two. This is the plot point I am most looking forward to.
3. See two.
4. Definitely agreed, seems like there's a different character altogether named Spider.Last edited by trobinson97; 12-31-2007, 08:49 AM.PS: You guys are great.

Spoiler
1. I watch this show because it rewards the viewer for watching the first 4 seasons. Someone watching this episode will have no idea who Sergei is and why he is important if they didnt watch Season 2. Also, you really werent paying attention to the newspaper scenes. They introed every major character, gave every name and even established each character's motivation in those scenes. I'm loving it so far.
2. Marlo is a great character but I dont know how he is likeable like now. He still ordered the murder of 22 people and is strong arming the others into paying a higher price for the pacckage. What made Stringer likeable was that he was trying to revolutionize the drug game by taking the violence out of it. Marlo is just trying to be the next drug kingpin.
3. Prop Joe and Dukie are just as likeable as always to me. I loved how Prop Joe handled the coop meeting where Marlo tried to turn Slim against him. Dukie is just a victim of the system. Carcetti is the same self centered politician he's always been.
5. They mentioned that the trial for the gun charge has been postponed twice in the past year.

Re: The Wire-Season 5
i cannot wait. Have you guys caught the commentary shows they showed a week ago? It was called the oddessy which was an into to season 5 and there was another commentary about the show and it's past seasons by reports and the cast. Really powerful stuff, you rarely get to hear commentary from Bubblez and other characters. They were talking about they're favorite characters and their favorite scenes
The wire is the greatest show ever to me and hope the final season will end it properly for this masterpeice.Comment
