I have had ATT Uverse DSL and Cable for 8 years and never have I had an issue with them. With all my services I pay roughly 130. The DSL Speed is not the highest but right in the middle and it suits my needs for what I use it for, XBOX LIVE, webpages and schooling.

Re: AT&T Internet service
Well I switched out this weekend. Pretty big difference. My previous speedtest (with the highest possible speed I could get from AT&T) clocked in at 1.3kbps down, and .6kbsp up. Now, 16kbps down and 4kbps up!Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Re: AT&T Internet service
Good thing it worked out for you Matt. I tried to get U-Verse a few months ago and had nothing but trouble with them, so I worked out a better deal with Comcast. I'm going to be cutting my LAN line here within the next few weeks so hopefully it will get my Comcast bill a bit cheaper.Comment

On top of that there's the whole changing email addresses on EVERYTHING! Try changing your email on the PSN then going to play your Vita and trying to figure out "where the heck do I change it here?! Why can't I get online?!"

Then there's our Iphones, I'm not even going to go there. Ugh.

All in all though we're happy with the switch. Much faster and now we can stream things on multiple devices without it taking 10 minutes to load up. I have had Uverse Internet for 4 years. 18mb download, 2mb upload. I get very close to the rated speed. No problems...Comment

Re: AT&T Internet service
I was actually looking into Uverse, but found out it wasn't in my area. Heard good things about them from my mates.
I've been spending about 150 for internet and cable for comcast (15/5 or 15/2 don't remember) that didn't even work half the time. It's been real bad lately to the point where I can't even game for 5 minutes and half my channels don't work. I have called and complained several times a week only for them to be just "Ok, I'm going to try to send a refreshed signal... Oh that didn't work? we'll send out a tech!" The tech comes by and is all oh your connection is fine i don't know why this is happening, meanwhile I'm charged $20 for their visit. Had enough of that crap.
I switched over to Fios triple play for $100 with practically the same tv package, but I'm getting 50/25 so I'm hoping this is much more reliable. I've already had the phone service for $15-20 so I'm saving about $70/month from the switch over to fios.Comment

Re: AT&T Internet service
I hate AT&T because of their atrocious customer service. When I moved here in May 2011, I signed up for the cheapest dry loop DSL available. Instead they charged me for the most expensive dry loop DSL, and also for a line installation which was never made (it wasn't needed).
It took 4 months of calls to finally get the incorrect charge credited, despite every single operator claiming they'd taken care of it (they transferred us about 3 times per call, and often we'd get dropped & have to call back). I ended up keeping the DSL plan though, since it was on a $19.99 monthly special, knowing that after 12 months I would need to switch the plan.
After 12 months it jumped to $43 a month and after calling to switch to the cheapest DSL, my friend (who makes calls for me, I have telephobia) was convinced it was cheaper to get DSL plus a phone line, since the DSL would only be $14.99 a month. She was told the whole deal was on 12 month special for $19.99 total. This of course was a lie and I was being charged over $40 a month again. So we called to drop the phone and just have the DSL. For some reason on my bill they dropped the DSL and are charging me $27 a month for the phone. They told my friend the new cheapest available DSL is up to the $43 plan, so I'm going to see how long I can stay with this bill before they figure it out, then I'll find someone else.
Also, they keep sending me new DSL accessories I don't need, and sending technicians over at 8am that I don't need (I regularly go to bed around 4am or so). When the service is switched all I need to do is follow the ATT registry page, but they send equipment and a technician anyway.
I can't wait to switch to a different provider.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: AT&T Internet service
Anybody have the wireless receiver for U-verse?
My U-verse was installed last week and the tech couldn't get the wired box to link, so he wound up giving me a wireless box for my main TV. Watching sports, I was getting some slight stuttering, so I had them come back out and replace the wireless box with a wired one.
The second tech thought I was nuts replacing wireless with wired, but unless you're moving your TV around it makes sense to me to go wired.Comment

Re: AT&T Internet service
I have the wireless receivers. They have come in handy for me. We have the DVR and two wireless receivers. It lets me move it to where I have my PC and plug it into my second monitor. I plan on lugging it out to my pool and watching a game from the comfort of the pool one night.
We had an issue with a ****ty tech. He pretty much just started his **** without asking where we wanted anything (only my mom was home at the time and didn't know better). We already had holes in the wall to our computer room where the existing cable modem was. This genius decides it's going in our den and then tries to judge where the inside will come out on our outside wall. He blast through from the outside in the middle of a wall 5 feet from where the entertainment center is. Ended up getting a second tech sent out because they only installed wireless internet. No way to hook up our desktops without wireless cards. They bring out a router and wire it up like we want. Then he said the last tech did everything completely ****ty.
The service has been fine. Speeds are 6mb faster than what I had, but I can't tell the difference. I would sacrifice 4-5mb of download speed for an extra 1-2 in upload.Comment
