    Anime Recommendations?

I'm looking for some good anime shows to watch. I liked Cowboy Beebop and watched the first season of Bleach, which was also pretty good. Just wondering what else is out there.

    Thanks

Try fullmetal alchemist. My brother loves the show and can't stop talking about it.

Awesome. Just awesome. I rarely watch anime but a guy on another site suggested it and it kicks all sorts of ***.

Yeah, I really don't watch anime, but Cowboy Beebop was great. My daughter loves anime, and this is something we can do together. I just want to find some stuff we both will like. Bleach was tolerable, and my daughter enjoyed watching it with me on dvd.

Ideas like "Pokemon" will be laughed at and tossed.

If you want some old school anime try Robotech.

              One Piece.

Great, deep, adventurous pirate story about a rubber boy named Luffy searching for the illusive One Piece treasure.

My description may not be the best, but that'll do.

I don't really know the border between cartoons and anime, so I don't know.

Any cartoon that's Japanese is anime. I'm not into going into the subtle differences between each of the cartoons on how they are drawn.

One of the greats, but I advise everyone DO NOT...I repeat...DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIE THAT ENDS THIS SERIES. Not unless you want your mind completely ****ed.

-My favorite anime is Gundam. The best mecha anime ever.
-Can't forget the movie that changed it all, Akira.
                        -Macross changed the American cartoon.
-Fist of the North Star is an all-time classic.
-Ronin Warriors got me into anime.
-One that is recent is Deathnote. Really good. It's on Adult Swim now.

-Along with Deathnote that is on now, I'm also into Naruto and One Piece (notice the avatar )

                          Re: Anime Recommendations?

Love Naruto and loved DBZ and Gundam Wing. Only problem was I dont really remember alot about gundam but the parts I do remember were bad a$$. Naruto- *Naruto is the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a shinobi who wants to obtain the title of Hokage. However, an incident occured 12 years ago, when a demon fox attacked the village; many shinobi fell, until the 4th sealed the demon within a baby. As a result, the adults see Naruto as the demon. Now a Genin, Naruto is part of a three-man team - the members are Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and their instructor, Kakashi. Together, they will face many challenges, make friends, face deadly enemies, and try to survive each other.
^This is the base story of Naruto in the beginning but believe me it gets alot of plot twist through out the whole thing. I forget what episode starts the fillers but you can just skip them and go strait to Naruto Shippuuden.

Here are some of the ones that i've watched that have been pretty darn good

                            ACTION

                            Black Cat

                            Synopsis :
Black Cat is about a former assassin, Train, and a former investigator, Sven. While Train was an assassin, he was known as Black Cat. He used to work for an organization known as Chronos. Chronos controls the world and maintains the peace. It has 13 of its own assassins. Train was the 13th.

Train and Sven are now bounty hunters, known as Sweepers. Train bears the number 13, in roman numerals, on his left chest and on his gun. Sven wears an eye patch over his right eye. They make their living going from place to place and catching bounties.

Another former member of Chronos, Creed, plots to destroy Chronos. Creed wants to make a new world. Creed creates an organization known as The Messengers of The Stars, and gather other people who have gained unique powers through a special potion.

Train wants to kill Creed for something that happened in the past, Creed wants to recruit Train to his organization, and Chronos' assassins are putting Creed and The Messengers of the Stars as their number one objective to destroy.
                            Claymore

                            Synopsis :
The countryside and towns are in terror as their inhabitants are devoured by the "yoma", powerful demons who can disguise themselves perfectly as humans. The only ones capable of recognizing and defeating these demons are the so-called "Claymore", silver-eyed warriors who are half-human and half-yoma. But their origin also makes the Claymore objects of fear and distrust for the villagers.

Young Raki has lost his family to a yoma who infiltrated his village, who is in turn eliminated by the Claymore Clare. Fearing that his contact with the Yoma might have transformed him into another monster, the villagers expel Raki who now joins Clare as her cook, following her in her travels as she fights against the yoma.
                            Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann

                            Synopsis :
Simon and his "brother" Kamina live in the underground Jidah Village. While Simon spends his time digging around for treasures (something the village appreciates), Kamina has a bad reputation as a troublemaker and because of his dream of reaching the surface.

In one of his excavations Simon finds a small drill-shaped key and, further down, a "face". As he's about to show his find to Kamina the village is attacked by a giant robot called Ganmen, followed by the gunslinging girl Yoko. Together, the three of them activate the "face" that Simon found and use it to fight the threat and blast to the surface... Where more trouble awaits them.

From there on, Simon Kamina and Yoko decide to travel the surface of the world, discover new places, and fight against the Ganmen and their beast-men pilots. One thing is for sure: with Simon's Lagann and Kamina's Gurren at their side, their lives just got a whole lot more exciting!

                            SUSPENSE

                            Death Note

                            Synopsis :
Ryuuku is a Shinigami (angel of death) who was bored with his job of killing humans with his Death Note, a notebook that has the power to kill anyone who you write their name in the book. One day he decides to drop his Death Note in the human world and watch what happens.

Light Yagami is a brilliant high school student not only at the top of his class but top of Japan as well. This prodigy finds the dropped Death Note and finds out its powers. He decides to use it to create a better world by killing all the criminals!

Pretty soon the world is in awe as notorious criminals all start dying of heart attacks, Interpol and L the world's greatest detective start on the case to find the mass murderer.
                            Monster

                            Synopsis :
In 1986, Tenma, a Japanese neurosurgeon in Germany saved a boy who was shot in the head. He did this against the orders of his patron who had wanted him to operate on a politician then. He had done it out of guilt (for not saving a patient earlier in a similar situation). Thus his career sank. Years later, a series of mysterious murders put rise to Tenma's career. Tenma starts to investigate these events.
And the one that really suprised me: Gankutsuou

                            Synopsis :
Now for those of you that have actually read The Count of Monte Cristo by Dumas, you'll immediately notice that the flamboyant settings and colors contrast the darkness in the beginning of the actual novel. The anime series takes place in a futuristic place called "Luna", where all desires can be fulfilled. The anime plot is derived from an idea proposed in the original book when an Italian countess suspected that the Count of Monte Cristo might be a vampire.

As the story begins, you're introduced to two young gentlemen, a blonde and a brunette. They parade through the festive streets of Luna in some sort of car.. and then meet a countess ( possibly Madame Villefort ) who calls the blonde Franz. You'll then realize that the blonde is Franz D'epinay and the brunette is his good friend Albert de Morcef. The countess tells the two young men that the Count of Monte Cristo is very famous in Luna and they are immediately intrigued by him.

That night at the Rospoli Hotel, Mondego and Franz receive an invitation from Monte Cristo to dine with him. During their dinner, Monte Cristo reveals that he once had a lover but his happiness is now a dream, traded for the life he has now. The plot follows that of the book from hereafter, where the young men witness a public execution. The Count gives Albert 3 cards representing the three men about to be executed. He also states that he has 1 pardon from the Cardinal and asks Albert to choose one of the men to be saved by picking a card.

After a mental struggle, Albert picks a card and saves Peppino, a man who boasted that he has killed 10 women and children. Albert is stunned at his choice but at the same time fascinated with the fact that he had the chance to "play God" as Monte Cristo said. The next scene we see Monte Cristo furiously fencing with his servant Marti. After a flash of swords, Monte Cristo chillingly reveals that his revenge is already in action...
