I noticed when downloading some songs, that 2 of them have a bit rate of 128. What gives? I thought all songs were atleast 256? And if some aren't, why aren't they cheaper? I'm using iTunes for the quality, and 128 is not quality.

just checked my library and the itunes plus songs are 256, regular downloads are 128. hope that helps

Only "iTunes Plus" songs are 256-kbps.

iTunes Plus songs previously cost $1.29 each because they were higher quality and were DRM free. Apple dropped that down to $.99 to compete with Amazon's new music store, so all songs are $.99 each now, but not all are 256-kbps.

Well I know its supposed to but I'm saying I can't tell the difference if I'm listening.

That's because they are AAC files. AAC files at 128 kbps are much higher than comparable mp3 files.

If you're not happy with the quality, you can always purchase iTunes+ for $.30 more and it will be DRM free, to boot.

EDIT: Yes, apparently they are now just $.99. Even better.
