    Shill bidding on Ebay

Anyone ever bust someone doing this and report them to ebay? If so, what happened?

If you're not familiar with shill bidding it's basically bidding up your own items to make the auctions go for higher amounts.

Recently my wife won an auction. I looked at the item and thought it was weird 2 different members with 0 feedback bid on this item and didn't win but drove the price up a bit.

So, I did some research on the 2 bidders:

    - off2qba
    - pstoley

Both had ONLY bid on items from that seller (jngsports) and NEVER won any auctions. off2qba has bid on 45 items from jngsports and has never won a single auction. pstoley has bid on 46 items from jngsports and never won a single auction.

So, I report him to ebay and I get a notice saying they looked into it and they couldn't find evidence he was shill bidding. Are these people morons? I wonder if they ever bust anyone for this or they look the other way since it makes them money.

Once my wife gets her item I'm going to put a note in his feedback that he shill bids so hopefully people don't get taken by him in the future.

I was buying a set of LS430 projectors... rare and expensive. I was a victim of this. The bid started at $450 and was a $450 with a hour left. I put my bid in and kept getting outbid by two other users. Both 0 and new to eBay. I ended up winning.

After winning I checked out his other auctions and the two same users were bidding back and forth for about 10-15 items.

Contacted eBay and after a week got a message saying I was not inclined to pay anymore.

Unfortunately looks like you got a moron CR to handle your dispute.

My wife's item was $10 and she already paid. So, it's not a huge deal but now she knows how to look for this.

I sent ebay another message asking how their wasn't enough evidence and gave them more info. I still wonder if they'll do anything to the seller, especially after reading an article like this: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article...7-2570050.html

It really depends on the CR you get from eBay/Pay Pal and how strong you are willing to push it. When I have a problem I don't really know what to except from them or Pay Pal.

I know they do something because I was banned from eBay for 30 for selling software. The software was legit but for whatever reason the system that monitors auctions found something wrong with mine. I found it funny that my legit software got canceled and I got banned for 30 days but bootlegs were selling and ending their auctions.

and most likely he hasn't left feedback for her yet, so he'll counter it with negative feedback as well. Funny how that works.

They look the other way, I've seen this happen on nearly every item i've ever bought on ebay. When i've reported it they always say they see no shill bidding. They just don't care because it makes them more money.
