Looking for some input guys.
I just purchased a new tv (a Samsung HL-T5689S) and was looking into maybe purchasing a stand alone Blu-Ray player. I already have a PS3, and have read some reports that it is one of the best Blu-Ray players on the market. Has anyone compared a PS3 to lets say a Samsung BD-P1400? Also I would need some cables, I love the prices at Monoprice, but are there cables as good as say Monster cables(I have yet to buy ANY Monster cables EVER). But I would need a 9ft. HDMI 1.3 cable, am I loosing any quality by buying Monoprice cables? Thanks guys!

Re: Looking for some input guys.
Monoprice cables are just as good as Monster, Im using both (bought some monster cables brand new on ebay really cheap). As far as getting a stand alone player, I think its a waste. The PS3 is the only blu ray player on the market that can be upgraded. When the new spec blu ray players ship (profile 2.0/BD live capable) your stand alone wont support the features, yet the PS3 will. That coupled with reports saying some 2.0 discs could have issues in profile 1.0/1.1 players I think you would be throwing money away. Especially since PQ and AQ is the same on each.Last edited by Virix; 01-19-2008, 06:54 PM. -

Monster cables are the most overpriced cables on the market. Avoid.
From all reports, the PS3 is still the best Blu-ray player out there.Comment
