What is particularly sad is that Meet the Spartans easily earned more money in one weekend than There Will Be Blood has in over 5 weeks.

yea that tells us all we need to know. Its a bad trend developing in hollywood in particular. I hope they keep making good solid movies with actual depth even though often they dont make as much money.

...but with that said. There aint nothing wrong with laughing. Some folks dont want to have to think when they go to a movie. They just want to laugh. I dont know if this one will be worth a crap, but there have been some funny spoofs over the years. Spaceballs was great back in the day "ludicrous speed"!!

That's on "There Will Be Blood"'s producers more than the general public.

In PG county, there's only one theater showing it, and it's a small independent theater. In all of Washington DC, there are 3 theaters showing it. Best I can tell, there are two theaters in Baltimore showing it. None of them are offering more than 2-3 showings a day.

At the same time, there are 3 times as many theaters in the area showing Atonement and about 5 times the theaters showing Juno, so if someone wants a critically acclaimed independent movie, they're not hurting in the area. They just can't see TWBB.

......The movie looks like a joke. I have no clue how they could get money to make a movie like this when there are starving kids in the world

I saw Epic Movie and I got angrier and angrier each minute that I was in the theater.

to be fair, most of the people in that theatre are going to be 13 year olds or people around that age... the theatre I work at, brings in tons of kids that age.

I know, it has a rating over 0%!

I like the corny over-the-top movies, I liked all the scary movie's, but like "Epic Movie" the previews just sold it to me...to stay away.

                      Re: Meet The Spartans

People going to them and making it money is why these dumb movies keep getting made.

I want to know what people go to these movies. I don't know anyone.

Actually, wait. My cousin went on Friday. But a girl dragged him. I told him that girl was psycho (she really is. And not because she wanted to see the movie). Anyway, he still hung out with her and wants to bang her too so I can't fault him for going with her to watch this crap-fest.

No, he didn't bang her and I knew he wouldn't because the chick is psycho.

That's it, I got it. Psychotic people watch these movies. I bet O.J. bought like 5 million tickets on his own to different theaters even though he knew he wouldn't make them all.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

maybe the stats got skewed by it being a second longer than an hour in length. People can't really like this stuff right?

                            "OUR REVIEW
                            by Dave White

Who's in It: Sean Maguire, Carmen Electra, Ken Davitian, Kevin Sorbo, Diedrich Bader, Method Man

The Basics: It's 300. But like if 300 were already dumber than it is. And it's got Carmen Electra and Kevin Sorbo. Because they'll do anything for money. Apparently, so will I because it's my job to watch it.

What's the Deal? Take all the recent movies, reality shows and pop-culture celebrity-meltdown moments of the past year or so, the ones that have been analyzed and dissected and goofed on to death already to the point where everyone's completely sick of hearing about them. Then dredge them up again, put it all in a blender and hit the "boring + unfunny" setting. Then hit yourself over the head with a baseball bat until you're having a good time.

                            The Most Annoying Thing
: Because this movie was written for 10-year-olds, it assumes that those 10-year-olds are the stupidest 10-year-olds alive. So when Ken Davitian, the fat guy from Borat, makes his first appearance, the narration tells you that his character looks like the fat guy from Borat. If I had hair on my head, I would have pulled it out right there in the theater and allowed my own screams to become my entertainment.

The Other Most Annoying Thing: Not the constant gay jokes or the constant shower of feces and puke, but the fact that the movie steals gags from other sources. A bit from Dave Chapelle here, a bit from Mel Brooks there. It's reprehensible of course, but then again its target audience is the niche market of the world's stupidest 10-year-olds.

My One True Hope: That mocking Tom Cruise's nut-job Scientology beliefs will get the filmmakers — responsible for Date Movie and Epic Movie before this — barred from working in Hollywood. But it probably won't. "

Stay away from this movie at all costs and spread the word to never see it, even though it looks like it already made money on owning the entire nation of America.

When I was 13 my favorite movies were The Matrix and Gladiator. Same with all my friends. If 13 year olds like these types of movies now then i'm guessing their taste won't change much 5 years from now.
