This has always bothered me. Ok, so the band of rebels, led by Luke, Han and Leia, lands on Endor in Return of the Jedi. Leia ends up separated from the group, while Luke, Han and the others are captured in a large net engineered by the Ewoks.
The Ewoks then take their captives, tie them all to what look like spits, and carry them into their forest village for what looks like some kind of large ceremonial feast. Meanwhile our heroes are tied to these spits while fires are light beside them and the Ewoks dance about.
Were the Ewoks about to eat them? Do Ewoks eat humans? Was this simply a human sacrifice? Is one better than the other? This would also explain why, after the battle with the Imperial forces on Endor, you see a lot of Stormtrooper armor lying about but no bodies. As if the Ewoks cracked open the armor like lobsters and feasted hungrily on the human flesh therein. Also, the Ewok drummer is beating on empty Stormtrooper helmets during the Ewok celebration song at the end of the movie. WHERE DID THE HEADS GO?
Am I the only person bothered by the fact that Ewoks seem to be horrible, flesh-eating monsters? Or are they just omnivores, which doesn't make eating humans all that weird?
