I have to do a research paper and give a speech on a controversial topic. It has to be pretty relevant to today, not something that's old and played out, but something that's still a main concern and issue today. I want it to be interesting.
The paper is going to be 4-5 pages but I have to present both sides of the argument. For the speech I pick a side and give a persuasive speech. The audience is just about 20 or so Freshman in my class and my teacher, so I'm going to try to stay away from some things like politics, unless I specifically attack one thing.
There's plenty of controversial topics out there, it's just that I can argue about this and that but when I'm put on the spot, I can't think of one of my favorite arguments, so here's where you guys come in.
Right now I've thought about homosexuality, steroids in sports, racism/stereotypes, the "n" word, standardized testing, hip hop maybe. I know there's gotta be something small but significant out there that I'm missing, so help me out.
Remember, just ideas, don't pick stances or sides in here.
